Good evening everyone,

I recently purchased an MPC remote start kit from amazon and had good hopes as I saw a review that said they had installed the kit without issue on their 470. I read over the documentation and realized how atrocious the job would be.

What I am hung up on thus far:

-Where is the Driver's door Pin? I have yet to find a Red/Yellow wire that connects to the driver's door. I believe I have found the Blue/red lock motor pin
-Are A1 and A7 supposed to tap into each other? Nowhere does it say anything about it in the documentation but it shows something like it in the schematics?
-Various other things I saw while skimming ahead.

If anyone has any insight on if I am missing other documentation or a better kit with better documentation please let me know, as I am about to return this unit.
I installed a remote start on a Tahoe not long ago and it was very easy 80% plug-and-play. Not aware of a kit that's plug-and-play for a 470.

Did you ever figure this out? I should be getting mine in tomorrow and hopefully will have enough light to work on the install. I'll let you know how it goes if you are still stuck.

I was not. Havent been able to tinker with it since. Was considering an getting an installer to wire in their own unit.

Please let me know how your install goes.

I think by "door pin" they are referring to the "door courtesy switch" which is near the striker/latch inside the door jamb:

That switch controls the dome lights coming on and off, and the single wire to that switch is Red/Yellow:

As for the A1 and A7... I wouldn't read that digram as saying those are joined together... I think the diagram is just sloppy. I'd read it as A7 is unused/not connected.

So I just got most of my wiring done and just like you I could not find the red/yellow wire for the door pin. From the diagram it should have been in the same 13-pin connector as the lock motor which I found as well but nothing that was red/yellow.

I ended up saying ****-it and ran an extended wire to tap it right behind the door pin that binaryaudex circled in red above. The wire was red/yellow but I wasn't about to unravel all the tape to trace it back to the kick panel.

Here is a pic of where I tapped it for reference...its pretty easy to route and only took me a couple of minutes. Hope that helps.

Im going to rip out the progress I had with the MPC and return then get a shop to install a Viper remote-start and alarm. $550 doesnt seem to bad to me.

Did you get your install finalized? Remote start functional and all?

There used to be a plug-and-play kit for the GX a long time ago. Theoretically, you can order the correct connectors from Toyota and create your own plug-and-play harness. I looked into doing that, even combing through the wiring diagrams and such.

I am pretty certain these are the part numbers for the 8-pin ignition connectors:
90980-11852 (female)
90980-11551 (male)
These are the pins you need to order: 82998-12380 and 82998-12370

This should be the part numbers for the 4-pin keysense connector:
90980-10795 (female)
90980-10794 (male)

I can't seem to find a part number for the 7-pin connector.

So finally had some time to finish the install and it seems to be working correctly so far. The biggest issue I had was splicing into the 3 wires near the key switch since there was very little room to work.

I did have a question though...is the oem remote supposed to work after autostarting the car? I thought I did something wrong since my remote did not work to unlock my doors after using the autostart but after thinking about it...I don't think the remote was ever designed to work at all when the car is running. Anyway someone can confirm that their remote does not lock/unlock doors once your car is started?

The remote isn't designed to be operated while the car is running.

From the notes on the MPC device listing on Amazon:
You may need to use your key to manually unlock door if Toyota remotes do not work while the vehicle is running.

Thank you for confirming! I was getting frustrated at the idea of going through all the connections again..

Just finished the install an cleaned up all the wiring.

For those looking to do this in the future, definitely worth it imo with the cold weather but there are a few things that are a pita..mainly those damn wires near the key switch. If anyone else has any problems, feel free to reach out!

Here is a quick video of it in action:

I may attempt to re-install my MPC kit as it looks like yours worked successfully. Mind if I shoot you questions if any come up?

Also, how do you unlock it once its started using the remote start? Are you having to manually key it to unlock?

Yeah go for it. I'll do my best to help! One thing I would suggest before you attempt it again is to take out your driver's seat. Its super quick (4 bolts) and gives you soo much more room to work.

Yeah, I have to manually unlock it since I just learned the Toyota fobs don't work while the car is running. I'm actually thinking about getting the add-on that gives you access to unlock, lock, start your car from your phone. Its an additional $189 but might be worth it since its just plug and play with the existing mpc unit.

Hey @iamacrestkid do you know if this is the green/yellow wire to attach the keysense to? My instructions say it's a 2-pin connector, but the one at the top of the thread says 2-pin or 4-pin.

Thanks! I'm using a different kit (Fortin Evo-One) so I don't have the same instructions you have. This is what I have: https://fortin.ca/download/93161/evo-one_ig_reg_bi_lex-gx470_key_2003-2009_a_93161.pdf

If that is the 4-pin, I believe the connectors are:
90980-10795 (female)
90980-10794 (male)

I'm going to try ordering these connectors and the ignition connector to make my own plug-n-play harness and then tap the remaining wires. Thanks for your help!

I was just thinking that new connectors with a better connection for the 3 wires near the key switch would be a better idea. Its rather difficult to get a good solid splice into those 3 due to the location.

Also, I bit the bullet and ordered the MPC add-on that lets you turn on/off, unlock/lock the doors, and track your car through a phone app. I wasn't happy with the range of the oem key fob also not knowing if my car actually turned on. For those interested, It is part# BC-4700 from MPC if you have the crimestoppers/evo-key kit.

Unfortunately, I can't find a part number for that 7-pin connector or it's mating end. While I located the plug in the car, there was no part number and it doesn't match any of the pictures in the wire harness repair manual.

That sucks...I actually used crimp connectors for mine since I ended up accidently cutting the wire completely trying to splice into it. It seems solid enough but time will tell I guess.

Just for posterity, here's a picture of the wire bundle and the wire for the door pin under the kick panel on a 2008 GX470. Since there are about 20 huge connectors and at least a million wires there (I may be slightly exaggerating), finding that one wire "under the kick panel" is like locating a specific red M&M in a bowl of M&M's the size of a 2008 GX470.

In the photo, I've popped loose the cable tie that holds that particular small bundle to the sheet metal under the kick panel and stripped the wrap down about 2 in. The red/yellow cable is separated from the rest of the bundle.

This seems to be the hardest wire to locate for this install. The advice about removing the driver's seat is spot on.
