mp3 stereo problem

Hey everyone,

I just put in a new stereo in my 60....anyhow its a Panasonic head unit that plays mp3's....It plays regular cd's like a champ but I burned a mp3 cd and each track skips. I first burned them on a cdrw and each track skipped, then I read that it may not read the cdrw properly because of the burning process. So I proceeded in burning my mp3's on a cdr and it seemed to work fine but then it started skipping. There's nothing wrong with the cd because my it works on my computer and my buddies stereo.....any one had trouble with mp3 cds in car stereo's? Thanks

It's posible .. but check also the CD in the stereo shop .. sometimes those CD-R are too thin for the lent.

Yeah I have a lot of experience with this. I usually find it to be for 2 reasons.

1. The bitrate of the MP3s you have is low. I usually find 256 kbps or higher will give you nearly CD quality and minimal skipping without the files hogging your CD due to their size.

2. The CDs that you are burning to are low quality. The computer is more forgiving of these than the Panasonic stereos. I have a Panasonic in my VW and an Alpine in my FJ60 and the Alpine cost less than half of the Panasonic but seems to play better. Granted, it's 3 years newer, but it does play better.

I have had a kenwood mp3 player in my 62 for over four years now. It has never skipped, even when I take it off road. My alpine stopped working after two years, and I have never run a Pioneer. Go Kenwood and check crutchfield scratch and dent for deals.

I thought the pioneer are the best .. I ran a kenwood in my suzuki grand vitara a few years agoo woth no much luck .. the problem star after only 4 moth of use ..

I think each brand has their "prosumer" models and their "consumer" models. Not every model is necessarily built by the name on the faceplate.
