Anyone have the Mozart CarPlay/AndroidAuto module installed? Search here has turned up nothing - surely someone has tried this or has it installed today?

Never heard of it until now

Looks like the same box as Naviks and others. They are all subpar solutions with buggy android interfaces. Biggest issue is when they don’t auto switch to CarPlay. They typically run an ancient end of life Android OS that are no longer supported.

Make sure the return policy is reasonable before ordering.

Here is a picture of a LC200 Naviks box that I returned. Look familiar?

Ok thanks - initial impressions were that this was a rebranded generic solution.

My $0.02 is this alone should be a giant red flag.
Typically, EOL means the OS is no longer getting any security patches and would be potentially vulnerable to existing vulnerabilities/exploits or zero days.
Overall, this is indicative of poor cybersecurity hygiene, amongst other things.
YMMV!

The Rennlist guys love it from what I’m reading

Putting one in myself as part of a SQ build can report back my impressions on the coming weeks

Perfect - let us know what you think!!

So far it's pretty good. The shop in LA that imports these from China are pretty solid (see link to cross-post).

There have been a few surprises. Namely the advertised RCA outputs aren't there & the kit changes were not communicated online or to the guys at Mozart.

We managed to fix that by re-wiring for RCA. This only is a need for those of us who are going hog-wild on a fully custom audio system (like me).

Currently seeking for SME on if you can grab volume control via CANBUS: Integrating CarPlay into aftermarket car audio - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/integrating-carplay-into-aftermarket-car-audio.1322131/

@kcobourn - You still like the Mozart unit? Getting one installed on a 2021 that i will pick up Friday. I saw it briefly and believe it is vastly superior to the NaviPlus unit i have in a 2017. TIA!

Yep it works as advertised with exception of a few random issues that come up from time to time.
  1. Longer night drives ( > 1 hour) Mozart will randomly set the LCD from night mode to day mode. Correction is to turn off the lights / turn them back on which resets the LCD back to night mode
  2. Longer trips Mozart will drop the wireless phone connection & you have to re-link (can't recreate & doesn't happen enough to try trouble shooting)
  3. My setup I lose volume controls & rely on an aftermarket remote + Mosconi volume controller + (still needs to be finished haha) the steering wheel controls
  4. Startup takes a second to connect to the phone & the delay is annoying especially compared to my wife's BMW which has immediate connections
Don't regret it though

Excellent and appreciate the insight. Returning NaviPlus units today and so far, so good with the Mozart! Game changer, even with the few annoyances with it not being OEM.
