Hey people, I'm Shane, and my truck is Bunny. We're moving from southwest Montana to the Rogue Valley sometime in March for my wife to take a job at Asante Healthcare. It's tough to leave Montana but it seems like y'all have a great neck of the woods down there, and we're excited to explore it on foot, bicycles, skis, raft and Land Cruiser.

I'll be on the lookout for meetups after we make the move, but definitely will be seeking out a Cruiser shop to take care of Bunny. I've got a Cummins 12v / NV4500 swap and have had all the custom problems that come along with that. I've now got more than 100k miles on the swap and it runs like a champ, but in honesty I'm not the most mechanically inclined guy out there so want to develop a long-term relationship with a trustworthy, talented mechanic / shop.

So, anybody have recommendations about a Cruiser or Toyota-specific shop, and/or a good diesel mechanic?

Thanks in advance!

Best of luck with the move from a MT native. As you may know, Asante has been going through a lot of changes recently. Quite the uproar. We have many friends who work there or used to.

So OR is a great place if you can put the political bs being shoved down our throats from the North. I try to ignore them.

This is a GREAT place to live. We have a great mechanic in Medford who has taken very good care of my Tundra. They have been around for a long time so would probably not have an issue with a diesel. When you are in town I can give you a connection. The Cruiser community is a good one here.

Safe travels!

Absolutely love your build!!!

Hey people!

We've been here since mid-March, ended up in Jacksonville. It took me until mid-May to return to Montana to get my Cruiser, raft and trailer but the family is complete again and you all were right, this place is unbelievably cool. I keep seeing someone around in a white 80 series, but of course I'm always driving my Tundra when I see them. If I were in my 80, I'd chase them down and say hello but...

We did a cool trip around the northern side of Rogue Wild and Scenic from Grave Creek down to Agness. I learned it's legal to camp on the gravel bars on the lower Rogue, and we got rewarded by a sweet camp spot all to ourselves at the tail end of that trip.

Some questions for the gang:

1) Do you guys ever do organized group trail days? Would love to make some likeminded friends and learn more about this region. Wheeling alone is always iffy.

2) Can anyone recommend a good diesel shop? Google shows several options but I'd much rather get a word-of-mouth recommendation from someone, if possible. My power steering pump is out for the 5th time, which is annoying. More annoying is that my A/C is out for the 4th time in 5 years, and of course now that it's 100 degrees every day that makes driving my truck pretty intolerable.

See you guys around, and if you see me out and about, give a wave or a 🤘and I'll give one right back.

Thanks!
Shane

For a diesel shop, not LC specific Siskiyou Diesel in Medford is pretty good for tuning, etc. If you need general repair for the 80 shoot me a PM ;-)

Hey @Fly Rod,

What shop are you talking about here?

Thanks,

Curtis

Pro Service Center on court street. Just ask them if this rig is in their wheelhouse and they’ll let you know.
