I just received 2 5.11 TPT R7 duty lights
http://www.511tactical.com/tpt-r7-flashlight.html

They have a hard mount for the charger to go on walls or vehicles. I'd *like* to mount it on the transmission hump on the driver's side, but I'm concerned about drilling through the body. Should I be concerned? If it's a bad idea, any other good mounting points people are using for accessories? Thanks.

Nice. Problem is, I have power seats.

I'm going to do a Streamlight again on the back of the console with the charger switched - and add some USB / other chargers options as well....

did this on my 80

Mounted on the back of the console might be the way to go. I rarely have back seat passengers, but often have that area full of search and rescue gear. That's why I favored the transimission hump to the right of the driver's shin. I just didn't know about drilling through the body. I guess I could put grommets? It would be perfect placement and look tidy, I'd just hate to do a water crossing and soak the interior.

I'm due for an upgrade, I know. My good light doesn't have a saddle for recharging so I still have my Ultra Stinger too.

I'd like to have it near the driver, and I have ARB outback drawers that cover that area.

You can put some acid free sealant on the screws. But, on the drivers side, hmm --- If, in an emergency situation, that torch falls down and block your big pedal....

I mounted mine on the underside of the top tray in the center console. I could plug it in to the plug right there and didn't fall around. I'm not sure how well it would work if you had a DVD or CD changer in there.

got any pics @TriArcher ?

I'm leaning towards mounting on the rear pillar above the powerpoint. Everywhere else seems like it will crowd out needed space. Though I do like the back side of the console idea.

I'd stick it in the back next to outlet like pictured earlier. For me it would get ripped off the back of the console by someone's foot. Up front I just keep a harbor freight LED flashlight and headlamp in the console and/or door - use them often and 6yrs later still work great with same China batteries inside. Heck, the LED interior lights upgrade almost ends up in no need for a flashlight within 10 ft of your rig at night, lol.

That's what I ended up doing. Worked out great, mounted to the ARB drawer wing. It's aluminum and totally solid. Wires tuck away nicely too. Thanks for all the input.
