I am preparing to install the Hayden 678 trans cooler. There are numerous DIY stories but I have not seen one that explicitly says the plastic finishing piece that is installed with black plastic fasteners remains intact after 678 install with Goliath, Iconic, KAON, etc.

Can someone confirm either way? If so which mounting bracket?

Thanks

The plastic cover fit with the Goliath bracket without trimming. It is tight with no movement over the horn area.

I just installed the Hayden 698 (same exact dimensions as the 678, but with an internal bypass valve) using the Goliath Offroad bracket.

I didn’t use any plastic fasteners that came with the Hayden transmission cooler. And there’s no plastic finishing used in the installation.

There’s several YouTube videos on how to install on a GX470.

If you don’t have a winch blocking access to the bottom bolts of the bracket, the install should easier than my install. The bottom 3 hex bolts are a pain to access when a winch is blocking your hands/tools from reaching

I just realized you are talking about the factory radiator air deflector:
  • 53292-60050 Upper Radiator Support plastic cover RADIATOR SUPPORT AIR DEFLECTOR (UPPER)

I don’t have this piece anymore…

Yeah, I am running pretty stock! Have noticed the transmission temperature gets up there when climbing some mountain passes! Would use a bracket from Goliath (or others) if the 53292-60050 Upper Radiator Support plastic cover RADIATOR SUPPORT AIR DEFLECTOR (UPPER) remains intact! If not I will do my own fabricating.

Timujin has confirmed the Goliath bracket with the 678 does not require modification of the Radiator Support plastic cover.

Will go that way.

Appreciate your response...

Will do a drain and fill prior to installing the Hayden 678/Goliath bracket.

Received the Goliath Trans Cooler mount a couple of days back and installed it with the Hayden 678 cooler attached! The Goliath mount fit perfectly and the radiator support air deflector installed without any modifications.

Pretty straight forward. The extra cost hardware pieces worked well and appeared to be good quality.

All in all the install with a 3 liter ATF drain and fill took about 3.5 hours.

Driving around the city the transmission is definitely running cooler. A 7 hour highway trip on the 20th will tell me more.
