Motorsports near the triangle?

I grew up at various dirt tracks in FL. Ocala Speedway, Lake City, Barberville (now Volusia County Speedway), and occasionally Sunshine Speedway, East Bay Speedway, DeSoto, and Hialeah. My uncle ran Hobby Stock, then Late Model in the 70s. My Dad sponsored the car, mainly to keep him out of trouble with the law.

Also spent a lot of time at New Smyrna Speedway and Orlando Speedworld for the oval pavement fix. Used to eat lunch in the grandstand at Daytona for the preseason testing (loved trying to figure out who was who in just primer, numbers were duct taped, and no sponsor decals.) Went to qualifying, the busch clash, and a couple of the twin 125's, but the most fun I had at Daytona was going to the 24 hour race. That was an absolute blast.

Wake County Speedway is a trip. Often there are drivers fighting in the pits and sometimes fans in the stands. Good NC redneck stuff. You and bring in a 6-pack cooler. Just a word of warning, don't wear flip flops or long pants that might drag the ground to the trough bathroom. Ask me how I know that's a bad idea.

Hahahaha, sounds like Atco raceway in Jersey..... it's been 20+ years since I've been there but the last time someone stole the bathroom sink - ripped the whole thing off the wall, tossed it in the back of a pickup bed - in front of everyone as we stood around and smoked......cigarettes?......it was great fun until the police showed up.....

@GLTHFJ60 VIR is a safe bet for good road racing. The Gold Cup Classic happens every October, gets grouped with the SCCA Trans Am series, and is worth checking out. The United Sports Car Championship is also held there and it's not an expensive race to go see.

IMSA at Vir is awesome. Go in the pits and see everything and everyone up close. So cool.

Similar, I grew up going to Bomwan Gray some. Not often, but fond memories of going there as a kid.

Martinsville looks like it has the very first race of the year, March 23-25. Collected the info below for others, will edit the first post with this info.

Love the "Redneck Run" idea We'll have to pick a race to do this with. Hyper-Fest at VIR is a strong candidate for me right now.
