Hello all,

in search of some help with wiring up my HID setup on an '03 Land cruiser. I went with Morimoto XB35 ballasts, igniters and Mini H1 projectors retrofitted into the OEM headlights. I also have the Morimoto PWM Harness: Standalone Canbus (H1/H3). When everything is connected, and power is supplied according to the following diagra, the headlights do not turn on. I'll admit that wiring and electronics is not my strong suit..

is the Canbus system not compatible with the LC and should I have gone the relay route?

thanks in advance, guys. If this has been covered in an obvious post, i apologise - please point me to it. TIA

I believe you need the relay system.

To get the low beams working on my LX: voltage to old bulb harness acts as trigger to the relay, and this in turn gives direct power from the battery, through the relay to each of the two ballasts, through the igniter and to the bulbs. Using the low beam trigger from the side closest to the battery to act as the trigger to fire both sides is equally effective and neatens the wiring.

If it is high/low beam solution, then you need need an additional input to tell the projector solenoids to move the cutoff shield out of the way for high beam activation. I am not totally clear on how that works on the LC. On my LX, it is a separate bulb/circuit and I left it separate.

I did a full high/low mini H1 projector refit on my Ford pickup with stock halogen reflectors. Good news: it is a spectacular upgrade. Bad news: I am not sure how the high beam circuit on an LC compares to give you any advice there. Sorry

You need a relay harness. The morimoto relay harness is a step above the cheap ebay/amazon harnesses, but I've still had issues with them.

@jerryb is making legit custom harnesses for this application. I will be ordering one soon after my wife drove my LX without the headlights firing up thinking the LED foglights in the ARB bumper were the headlights.

I’d be willing to try that out if I had a way to get a projector assembly. What are my options?

@dsalni , you don't need the canbus add on but it doesn't hurt anything having it. . You don't have to ground that blue wire either.
But you should use their relay set up, or some relay set up.

Check your wiring though because it should ignite as is even without a external relay.

thanks for the responses everyone. TRS sent a free relay harness and things seem to be working fine now.
