More Storage for the armrest

Oh I'm sorry I was sure this as a market enquiry/focus group whatever..

I'm just testing the idea of additional storage options and wonder what the 'Mud experts have to say about it. I have a few other options that I haven't shown yet. Maybe I'll get to them.

Hoser had a nice idea about extending the lid and running storage under the 'wings'.

Some folks liked the bag idea. Others didn't.

I'm a firm believer in the method of "Brainstorming" as a student, teacher, work environment, doctorate in Industrial Design (Let things come out of you mind without getting to be filter by the brain or moral standings)

What about finding a few worn out consoles/lids and cutting them out at the lid or extending them usings "Accordions"..?? personally I prefere, layers almost like folders, compartments, cubes, than duffel bags like a woman purse..

So many things that you can do with fabrics, If you are not doing the sawing try to learn is the best way to understand how the material and the shape works.

Plus the mess that will happen if you try to open the armrest console, specially if you forget to close the bag first..

If you can stand and like the bag there, I think it will be a good idea to invest in the R&D to make it "Movable" like using a parallelogram linkage so is independent of the arm rest ..

I'm sure someone can come up with a Rube Goldberg machine to make the bag move, spin flip over. I prefer the simplicity.

The bag is self closing - unless you purposely leave it open... that would be the equivalent of leaving the lid up on the stock armrest and opening the lower section. I'm guessing you have sufficient brain power to not do the latter thus ensuring the former.

Its very comfortable to rest your arm on... unless you have TRex arms.

No need to be offensive.rude or generate assumptions, I was just trying to give you sound cohesive advice and offer some possible alternatives to the possible negative spatial interactions..

Example, yes this mounts is a little crude but it comply with every parameter I stipulate when I start the project.. (Mostly field of vision, elapsed reaction time, safety, non intrusive with the finish of the vehicle (Like I care is a old car, I can hack all I want)

Re-purpose Cannondale lefty triple clamps.

Lets just say that just because you have some skills and studies, does not ratified in anyway other can not, Universities are very big places, for example I got a scholarship for a masters in ergonomic science with a emphasis in Human power from a "Tiny school" down you way near El Camino avenue and make my living consulting on the topic, mostly to motorcyle/bicycle/skateboard companies..

Actually I think it is an great concept and an effective use of space. Just not for me, hence my (attempted) humorous reply. FWIW, I visit your website often for tips tricks and general how-to. Thanks for your contributions!

Hey guys thanks and its no worries. I posted up the concept to get feedback and to possible inspire other designs. I have no issues with snarky humor or other.

I'm testing the bag this weekend on the road to see if it will properly contain my snacks without interfering in vehicle operations.

I have another bag in design phase the straps to the front of the glove box to provide additional storage as well. I've been running some small bags there for years - I'll share that one too... prob get some 'feedback' on that

Let's not paint anyone with a broad brush simply because he has a dissenting opinion from the rest and/or majority. @Patineto has made many useful contributions to this forum in numerous threads and he's only been around since July. While I agree some members do more harm than good by being here, I feel like the aforementioned Mudder has already proven to be a valuable member of the community and will likely continue to do so. While I don't care for the look and placement of the bag/storage idea in question, I appreciate his feedback on the topic and to RobRed for introducing it.

Not trolling, serious question. That you can have a gun I understand (despite what most Americans think, in many EU countries you can own a gun), but that you can drive around with it like that surprises me.

On topic:
I like the execution of the bag, but I don't need one. US 100's have way smaller center consoles than the rest of the world because you have armrests. The rest of us don't. That's why I have a fridge in my center console (factory option).

It's different with every state. In Oklahoma you have to have a concealed carry license to carry loaded in your vehicle. I have my license, so my gun usually is stored in the center console on long drives and trips. And each states licenses have reciprocity to be used in certain other states. Some states you can carry loaded without a license, like I said its state dependent.

As for on topic, I like the bag idea, but it's not for me. I feel like if someone made a gear organizer that hung over the lip of the center console and allowed you to attach gear (flashlight, knife, etc) to the side of the console would be a good idea. I'm all for more storage, especially in the cockpit area, but just can't deal with my arm a couple inches higher resting on my "snack" bag.

And also I think forgetting that the lid is open is a valid concern, no reason to call someone stupid for mentioning it.. What if your kid is digging in there and leaves it open, you don't realize and flip up the console and then all that gear/food is in the 2nd row seat/floor. I realize it's Velcro and will self attach when shut, but it's still doesn't give the full security that a latch provides.

I just bought my LX in April and I've still got a gun buying problem instead of an LX accessorizing problem. Trying to change my frame of mind somewhat now.
