New to the LC scene and picked up a stock '04 early this year. Brake pads were new but of unknown origin. All things being equal, I would expect more brake dust on the fronts than the rears. Mine has way more on the rears. They are not dragging and the truck was well maintained and runs great. Are LC's more rear biased on the brakes?

The only reason I ask is it doesn't seem to stop all that well and wonder if it's cheap aftermarket pads. Granted it weighs 5500 lbs and my other car is a Porsche.

Anyone running stock Toyota pads care to comment on where they see the brake dust?

Front's build up dust as you would expect on mine. I don't think I even accumulate much on the rear at all.

Could indicate air in the front system causing the rear to be overworked and your breaking distances longer.

Seems like my rears never showed much dust with OEM pads. Now my wheels are black so dust is invisible.

I had the fluid changed at the dealer not too long after I picked it up so I doubt there's air in the lines. I have used cheapo aftermarket pads on other vehicles with less than stellar results. Was thinking of pulling these off and using factory Toyota pads for piece of mind but didn't want to waste the money if my brake dusting is normal for factory pads.

Yeah, dealers never make mistakes. The new guy gets all the fluid change tasks most of the time so what could go wrong?

In any case, a lot of drivers run the OEM pads as the performance/life/cost equation is pretty good.

Are all 4 corners using the same pads? You should still have much greater dusting on the front if the system is correct.
