Though there's no denying that Toyota builds an extremely reliable vehicle across the board, starting with the inexpensive Corolla, these sorts of lists often leave me scratching my head a bit.

I would expect GM twins like the Tahoe and Yukon to have pretty much identical numbers and be paired up on the list. My understanding is that these are largely different trim levels of the same vehicle, having far more in common than not. I am a bit surprised, though, to see anything from GM make such a list these days.

I'm also surprised that Honda doesn't have more of a presence on the list with the Accord and Civic, though it sounds like they've started to slip a bit in recent years.

They are identical mechanically. I would guess that the type of person who buys a used Tahoe (down here in the southeast anyway) is a rural bumpkin who will drive it until the interior rots away and the oil dries up and that’s about the time you slap half a lift kit on the front and drive it some more.
The vehicle is an inch away from falling apart with 250,000 miles on it, but they’ll keep driving it anyway. That pushrod LS will drag that heap forever.

That said, I personally like Tahoes and Yukons and heavily considered them while searching for my LX, but the type of people who drive them down here will literally drive them until the wheels fall off, long after a sane person would have gotten rid of it, so I can see why they made the list.

I always see that comment about LC’s are designed to last 25 years, Toyota has never claimed that I believe, but yea I agree with the list.

At an LCDC a few years back a rep from Toyota did say that, in so many words. More accurately something like whatever the estimated useful life of a normal vehicle is, the LC is designed to the same standards.........for 3rd world countries with unimproved roads.
