Alright folks, we're a 4x4 truck club, officially, and as such we need to start the operations of our front axles! One thing that's necessary is actual usage of these things that brought us together in the first place.
I propose an informal monthly ride. No special date, no "third weekend of the fortnight", nothing about the moon.... just good old fashion "let's meet up n'ride"! I know everyone isn't going to make it.... but that's fine. And I would also hope that we have SO MANY get togethers that people get pissed that it's on the same weekend all over the state!

As an example... Go peep the Rock Show thread here in DLC for a ride in 2 weeks in Auburn. Maybe that can be our "June Ride". Camping is available that weekend. They got portolets and I offer my shower for anyone who wants to use it... also, chewacla state park is merely 3 minutes from the park if someone wants to camp there...

What say the masses about a monthly ride?!:steer:

I think that's a great idea though I Can't make it in June (daughters first birthday).

Let me add that if you don't want or can't drive your rig then catch a ride with someone (its nearly as much fun as driving your self and you don't have to worry about breaking anything).
I almost always have an open seat.

YES me too!
I always be lettin folks drive my junk too! It's currently down but I'll be driving it around with no top at the Rock Show.... I can possibly take folks on a tour of the bunny trails!
When it's tubed out... anyone is welcomed to hit the hard obstacles in it! WOOPOW!

Great idea. I'd definitely be up for riding with someone on the stuff I don't want to drive my DD on.

I'm down... Although since everything is official, should I officially apply? Or is my pre official application official enough now that you are official? And since this isn't an "official event" can I drive being 17 years old? (which is only until July)

Persons seeking membership in this club as regular voting members must meet the following requirements:
1. Be an owner of a Toyota Land Cruiser or other Toyota 4wd vehicle with a low range
2. Be a legally licensed driver, at least 18 years of age.
3. Must show proof of vehicle insurance and registration. (NOTE: Rock Crawlers, Buggys, etc. are exempt. Vehicles in a restoration process are also exempt until they are deemed "street legal".)
4. Must agree to join the Toyota Land Cruiser Association, Inc.

I too am interested in the answer to this. There's a guy I know who's 16 but is interested in hanging out / joining / riding.

did your buddy get anything done on the 40?

The way I see it every one is welcome to come hang out and participate in meetings/rides ect.
The rules are such that if you are under 18 you won't be able to officially join and become a voting member.
As far as rides go it will most likely depend on the park or event rules.

I remember when I first joined rocketcity rock crawlers my Dad had to be the official member in my place and him or. My brother had to be with me rides because it was under 18. So this is not an uncommon rule and I'm sure that it has to do with liability.

This is obviously one of the first things that must be discussed as a club.
The rules are clear about bieng members but unclear about those who are under 18 and want to drive thier own vehicle on club rides.

Not trying to cloud things even more but actually the State of Alabama views people 18 and below as minors and you don't reach majority until 19.

it seems to me minors cant be a "members" so what? how many people were at the club house and didnt vote/participate?

if we go to a TLCA sanctioned event they cant drive... but at non events (like the one in auburn) they should just have to comply with the parks rules right?

they arent bared from coming to shoot the bull with the rest of us are they?

bring it don't sing it!
There's a waiver that MUST printed on GAPs website and signed by your legal gaurdian. Anyone under the age of 19 must have this at the gate... Can't get in without it.

I'm down for the meet and I'll be there in June for sure.

Let's leave "official business" in those threads... this is to try to encourage folks to get out and enjoy the reason they came to this site: offroad trucks.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to rides regardless of race, age, sex, creed, culture.

Agreed.

Come to a ride and if you're underage, and like us, then we'll make you wear a promise ring until you're old enough to join.... deal?

If you're a hot blonde chick with aftermarket bolt-ons, and enjoy wearing not-a-lot of clothes, then you may be more welcome than others.
