A group of us Florida people are planning a trip Moab next year.
Of course I'm sure the best thing would be to attend the Cruise Moab event.
Unfortunately the dates don't work for most people in our group.

Are the trail crowded during the summer months?
The week after the 4th fo July seems to be the tentative date now.
None of us have been there before, so thoght I would get some input as to when the weather and trail conditions are best.

Thanks!

friggin hot

IMHO spring and fall are best.

You will roast, imagine 4wheeln on asphalt in the summer in St. Pete. Seriously hot, almost dangerously hot.
I did a mountain bike trip there in the summer once, I almost couldn't carry enough water.

It'll be a little toasty right after the 4th. I've been there at the end of June and it was warm, like 100+ degrees. If you don't mind the heat its a great time cause no one else is there.
Its a lot different than Florida though. The humidity in the summer is maybe 10% or less.
If you can wait, late September, October and early November are terrific.

I was there the first week in June once and it was miserable. 104 degrees. We'd get up at 4AM to hit the trail so we could be back to camp by noon.

MAY is good! Late September and early October is good too.

Ditto on the heat! We plan for spring and fall runs. April,May then Sept, Oct...are good months. Unless you like it HOT, just remember like markh said its alot different than Florida. So the key (if it is hot) is water, Water, WATER! The heat and dry air sucks it out of you! Good luck.

Spring, Fall! We were out in October and the first day it was Hot and the second it was raining but the traction was still fine. Agree with the WATER WATER WATER thing!!!

No matter when you come try and show up on Sunday or Monday and have the week to run the trails. Weekends are usually a train wreck on the popular trails.
