Ok, I'm up at the shop trying to knock out a huge list of tasks and my welder is f-ing up on me

What I think is happening is the wire is jamming up in the liner and the feed rollers then push the whole gun out of the unit. I've tried tigthening the gun holder wingnut as tight as I can, and it still pushes it out. If not, it just balls up the wire in the unit. I pulled the liner out and there was an ever so slight kink in it. I bent it back and wrapped some tape around it to help stiffen it to see if that would fix it, but it doesn't seem to be jamming up where the kink is anyway(kink is near the unit, but the wire doesn't jam up until it's almost at the end of the gun).

Any ideas/suggestions? There are no welding supply houses open on the weekends here, so I'm really dead in the water if I can't get this back up and running again :frown:

Thanks

Ary

maybe remove the liner and inspect it.

I tried that. It looks like it should be ok to me. That's the furstrating part. If it was all F-ed up, then I'd know what the culprit was and how to fix it. But it doesn't appear to be bad at all.

Oh my bad.

Does it jam with the tip removed?
Can you clean the gun , maybe blow it out?

I dismantled the whole thing, and tried feeding wire through the liner by itself. It gets really hard to push through about 1/3 of the way in and impossible to push through about 1/2 way in. I checked the liner in the area that it jams up and it looks absolutely perfect.

I'm really at a loss.

MAN!

Did you try some penatrant spray , work wire, blow off with air and brake cleaner.
Can you try to unwind that section?
It might be just slightly crushed.

You might have to get a new liner:frown:

Good luck

Get a new liner. They cost less than 20.00 at you local welding supply.

x3 on replace the liner. You'll make yourself crazy trying to get the old one right again.

Mine did the same thing. Got a new liner larger than the stock (it was .030 and now .035) now the thing feeds great. It use to feed in small jerks and that "F"ed the weld. Now it feeds smooth.

Like FJ40charles said it's cheap and if there is even a small kink you have little choice.
