What do you imagine is being added that would affect the life of the filters?

As far as cost, ehhh 15$ maybe.

Well, these guys are talking about dumping used oil in their fuel tank to burn. Used oil has particulate in it. Particulate that will plug fuel filters.

:meh: Not my truck..... We would have never done this on the farm due to the fuel filters cost and time for the value of the used oil......

Well... if one felt inclined, it needs to be filtered pretty heavily before hand and then really should be put through a centrifuge.

Not worth the hassle though imo.

Adding clean 2T oil or clean Engine oil in the fuel tank with ratio of 70:1 doesn’t bring much hard work for fuel filter.

But I saw on youtube that some people pouring all the used engine oil from Cranes/Farm Trucks/Farming Machines (4~5 gallons) and shifting them straight into the fuel tank. In that case, I am sure that clogging fuel filter possibilities must be very high plus lot of unwanted smoke.

Here the fuel filter price for 1HD is USD 6/- only (after converting with current exchange rate). And we change them after 10K km usually.

Used oil would cause fuel filters to clog up. New oil won't, but new oil at around A$50 for 5 L is a bit expensive, so I wouldn't want to be putting expensive oil in with (relatively) inexpensive diesel (the Caltex outlet I buy diesel from has it at A$1.449 per litre currently, which is A$0.24 per litre cheaper than a Shell outlet nearby). Now if I could buy new engine oil at the same sort of price, adding oil to the fuel would be viable.

Because the effort to 'treat' waste oil to make it suitable for adding to fuel is excessive, unless it was being done on a big scale (like in a mining situation), it's hard to see it being beneficial for us 1hz or 1hdt 80 series owners.
