Missing Wire Trivia (1 Viewer)

I was working on removing my charcoal cannister to test it and noticed that I seem to have a ground wire missing. The eye connector is still in place under one of the bolts that hold the push rod cover in place, just above the oil filter. About a year ago I replaced my fuel pump and prefaced that by cleaning with my pressure washer. I may have broken off the wire at that time. Unfortunately, I can't find the loose wire. Does anyone know where that wire comes from? Thanks.

On a ‘86 FJ60, there wasn’t a factory installed wire there. I think that broken connector is from an installation from your previous owner.

The cylinder head does have a significant wire (black & yellow) connecting the cylinder head via a bolt to the firewall in the rear near the water valve. It’s another ground wire.

Thanks OSS. I have a 5/85 FJ60. I think years ago I had a mechanic replace the side cover gasket when installing an HF55. I’m surprised he would have put that back on unless there was a wire attached.

I removed the old connector and it looks like it was the wrong size for that location/stud.

Where on the head does that wire come from?

On my 5/85 there is no wire attached there - There was, however, from the Factory (long ago replaced with a 2 ga cable) a 14 ga ground strap at the very rear of the head, under a 12mm bolt, to a spot on the firewall. That may be a remnant of that?

I do have a black/yellow stripe wire attached at the back of head. The one I'm asking about is something else. I don't think I have added anything like that and the truck has been "running fine" since I purchased in 1998, so I'll assume it is not necessary. Thanks!
