Hey everyone was wondering if anyone has info on using mini-truck springs under an FJ40. I know that these springs are quite common and I would to slap them under my rig. I've only seen a handful of pictures and little info on placement of perches, brackets, and etc. Here are some of the examples i've seen. I understand that minitruck springs are 47in up front and 56 in for the back and are narrower. Any suggestions?

minitruck rears (1989ish, OME's) are about 51" eye-to-eye when flat. FJ55/FJ60 rear spring packs are 47" eye-to-eye flat. FJ40 front or rear packs are 43.5" eye-to-eye when flat. If you've found a great way to find 7-1/2" to mount them, go for it.

I have a set of OME's on the shop floor, brand new, planning to use on the front of my FJ40...well, was...my online research told me they were 47" eye-to-eye...they aren't...arched, yes, but not when flattened. Still not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I DO have some room to push the front mount forward...

I have FJ55 rears in there now, and have run those on all 4 corners. Great choice, not TOO long, but hard to find without there being busted leafs...I have a set of FJ60 rears right now with busted mains...

again, not sure what my plan is...

i ran a set of 2wd mini-truck leafs on the rear of my FJ40 for about a year, i moved the shackle mount out to the back of the bumper......they flexed awesome but my anti-wrap bar couldnt control the axle wrap anymore and i broke u-joints almost every single time i rode with that setup

The stock early mini truck rears were about 47", with roughly 21/26" centerpin. With a bunch of added leafs (9 total) I still run them sprung under on my 40, and have for about 8 years. All mounts were stock (switched to taller ones from a BJ42 a while ago). Long shackles. They work fine but probably wouldn't bother do it again :meh:.

After the replies I've read from pirate and mud. Minitruck spring seem to be only last resort options unless the springs are aftermarket such trail-gear. Is anyone running OME FJ40 kits? The one im looking at is about 1200 bucks. Pretty much bolt on. However im looking for more customized setups especially since my FJ is a trail-rig and probably isn't going to the street verymuch. Currently Im running stock springs in a SOA configuration with shock hoops front and 12inch travel shocks. I want a setup that will allow me to run 38's (fenders cut already), 40series axles and handle the torque of my SBC.
