I figured I would throw this up here. I dont know this guy, and have no vested interested in him selling his junk. Its just a good price for somebody who wants to go to Mini stuff...

Whole setup, stearing arms, box, rods, etc for $25 in Claremont NH.

Im registering now on NEOW so I can respond to him...

Thanks for the tip off, I could use that stuff.

That's a really good deal. Weren't you going to do Minitruck?

Are they all old solid axle boxes? If you end up with an extra good one let me know.

Were I you Dave, I'd be looking for a Scout box. A 60 box isn't gonna have enough power IMHO given the weight of your rig and the tire size. It's more like power assist than power steering.

Marks right, I have the mini system on my 40.
It works but there really isn't enough power for the type of wheeling that
I like to do now.

i have about 20 fj60 boxes.....loose

I have the other side of the system, in a box ready to ship. Pump, brackets, hoses. Lemme know if you're interested, I'll get a pic.

what can be done to the power steering on a mini truck to make it stronger ?? if anything :o)

You can use a Saginaw pump and do a simple modification for more pressure at low RPM. Other than that, nothing really. You can build beefed up steering rods, but you will still have a center arm. The best thing you can do is ditch the bell crank setup.

If you have a 85 or earlier straight axle mini the only safe thing to do is put crossover on it. The j-arms are not safe on a lifted or wheeled truck. If you have a regular non push pull mini box with crossover steering you can add hydro assist and it will make life so much easier Fox ran it on the comp truck and it worked great.

There are two ways to attach to the frame. A thick plate welded to the frame and tapped or sleeved through the frame. My new 40 has a 60 box and it works real good with my 36's

From my experience the Toyota stuff (mini, stock P/S or FJ60) is all underpowered compared to Saginaw stuff. Randy is the only guy I've seen with decent Toyota power steering on a 40. Even then my Saginaw box was still more powerful...

I did an FJ60 P/S conversion on a '77 FJ45 for Junk on this board. I drilled and sleeved the frame to bolt the box on. The drivers side shock tower got sliced and diced pretty good for both box clearance and steering shaft clearance. I used a 60 series steering shaft to connect the steering column to the box. The shaft did require a little stretch with some tube. Since I had also swapped the FJ60 knuckles onto the front axle in place of the drums ('77 FJ45 from Canada had drums stock) I used the FJ60 drag link and tie rod; shortened to fit of course. I was also able to remove the OEM FJ60 steering stabilizer bracket from the 60 and weld it to the 45 frame to use an FJ60 stabilizer (40 series is too short for a 60 steering system). Worked out to be a nice conversion when done. Still was more power assist than one fingure power steering like Saginaw though. Junk was happy with it and that was all that mattered.

YRMV of course!

I'm still researchin' to figure out all I need. PM me info on what you have...Thanks.

I thought I only needed pump and res. brackets from the mini stuff, but seems I need more. LMK.

Thanks
