Miller-Lockwood is on the club calendar for Saturday, September 20, as a day run; with a camp-over Saturday night option for those inclined to do so.

We will start on the Lockwood Creek Trail. onX OffRoad rates this as "Moderate" trail (rated 4/10) and is about 9.9 miles long. It then connects with the Miller Jeep Trail. The Miller Jeep Trail is rated by OnX as a slightly harder "Moderate" (6/10) trail about 2.9 miles long. The trails should be suitable for stock 4WD's with good ground clearance & good tires (unless conditions have changed). However, stock vehicles will likely need spotting in a few locations on the Miller Jeep Trail section.

This is a club day trip for those that want to hit the highway after running both trails; or an overnight for others. There is camping at the end of Miller Jeep Trail. Those who only plan a day trip can continue on down slope on dirt roads and re-connect with pavement at Hungry Valley.

Let's meet at the Flying J Travel Center near Frazier Park. It’s right off I-5, at 42810 Frazier Mountain Road, Lebec, CA. We’ll meet at 9:00 AM, and then head over to the trailhead. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make this run but please reply to this post if you intend to join the fun! @rpfzj80 will be checking in on this thread as the run date gets closer and will provide updates if needed.

If you want an idea of what the trail looks like, check out the photos from our 2019 run: Miller-Lockwood 2019

A couple spots may look intimidating but with good spotting you should be able to make it without issues. The 40 that is being winched through some rocks was because we did not want to damage the running boards. The gearing in it was too high so that it was bouncing over rocks instead of crawling slowly. Winching was the best option to get it through unscathed.

This trail was on my bucket list for a long time before I got to it. Since then I have returned multiple times. It’s a fun trail. The obstacles are just challenging enough to build up your confidence

color me "forgetful"

my outdated calendar says "September Long-Distance Club Run: Coyote Flats - 9/19-9/21"

Soooo, is miller-lockwood in lieu of, or addition to, or ????

Won’t be able to make it.
We are also moving to Montana

I will be at the Flying J at 9:00am to meet everyone that is going...since Katelin's truck has AC, I will be driving that! My plan is to just do a day run and wander home after we get off the trail.

Just took a look at the weather and it shows a high of 75F and sunny for Saturday...should be good!

930a 9/19/25: don't know what crack I was smoking, but the above weather looks to be correct. I already commited to a mountain bike ride, so I'm out :bang:
