What trailer do you want the specifications?

I have specs for several trailers. Which one do you need?

Basically i want to design my very own milspec trailer.. and was looking for various standards i should comply too..so any specs i can get would be helpfull.. like MIL-T-45386...

If you have the specs for any milspec trailers...that would be really helpfull.. thanks in advance.

Are you competing for some sort of mil/gov contract?

Seems sort of pointless if you are just building your own trailer. The load and the terrain won't give a hoot what sort of "Milspecs" your creation meets or doesn't meet. Build it to suit your needs and hit the trail.

Mark...

Not exactly competing for a contract yet... but i plan to...so i wanted to know what military requirements are and check if i am capable of making trailers that meet those standards.

Well, first thing is... what size of trailer do you want? They are rated in off road capacity, like 1/4 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, and 1.5 ton.

The two practical sizes are 1/4 ton (Jeep trailer, WWII style, M100, M416) and the 3/4 ton (M101 US). I don't know what the Canadian M101 jeep trailer is rated for.

Each will haul more on road than off road. And military trailers are designed with heavy overload abuse in mind.

There are plenty of trailer pics in this discussion group. Anything catch your eye?

Well, the capacity i am looking for is a range, rather than a straight forward value.. anything from 3/4 ton to 1.5 ton would do.

and yes something did catch my eye..its the M8 Military Trailer..made by milspecoffroad.inc unfortunately they are out of business. so can't get the specs from them.:(. I have attached some pics of it

The range is variable because i intend to mount Generator sets on these trailers at some point in the future for mobile power generation, and different rated gensets would require different load capacity rating. The last pic which is a little small shows exactly what i am talking about. Its a mobile trailer mounted Genset made by mecharon power systems for military purposes.

The silvereaglemfg.com M1101 and M1102 trailers are where you need to start. See if you can find all the specs for those. Even better find the RFP that was issued for their contract. Unfortunately you are trying to play in a very expensive market. Ideally you own a multimillion dollar company already and can spend min $200k engineering a line of trailers. Then you need to somehow get approval to test them to their standards. Parts will break and it'll be another $100k to redesign. Cost for fabrication not included. I'm not trying to be negative but there is a big difference from the M8 to a full blown contract with the military. First of all the M8 is too small to be practical. Military needs seem to keep getting bigger. 3/4 ton is likely smaller than practical for future. Look at the potential HMMWV replacements and design a trailer for what is most likely to be it's successor. Something to think about anyway.
