Michelin 275/60/18 vs. 275/65/18???

I am replacing the tires on my 2004 LC. I am putting on some Michelin LTX M/S 2's in a 65 instead of a 60 series. Will I notice any change in gas usage, handling and will it mess up my speedomoter?

I know the larger tire will last longer because it is rated for 70K miles and designed to carry a heavy load. Is the larger tire woth it?

Do you mean M/S 2's in 275/65R18 vs. 275/70R18? According to Tire Rack they don't make a 275/60R18.

Either way, you are talking about roughly a 1" increase in diameter. That will slightly affect MPG, and your speedo will read slightly lower that actual speed.

The M/S 2's are 275/65/18 and what I have now are Michelin Lattitude 275/60/18, the lattitudes wore our super quick like in 38K miles.

+1 I wouldn't do the Lattitudes again. I'm running the A/T 2's now on both trucks.

Ok, gotcha. Well for what it's worth I just put LTX M/S 2's on my mom's GX470 and they are really nice. Great ride, smooth and quiet.

It they are good enough for mom they are god enough for me. Looks like it's the M/S 2's then, this is a mall cruiser and just looking for quiet, good ride and to get some miles out of them.

Get 275/70 18s and you won't regret it.
I ran this size before my lift and had no rubbing issues.

I made the switch from 275/60R18 Latitudes to 275/65R18 MS2s on my 2004 LX470 earlier this year - have been very happy with them. Haven't experienced any noticeable downgrade in ride or gas mileage as a result. And the MS2s will last a lot longer and have a more aggressive appearance. The Latitudes only lasted about 40k for me as well.

I ended up going with the BFG Rugged Terrain in 275/65/18 load E recently and we did a 2000 plus mile road trip last week. The speedometer is just about right on according to my Garmin GPS. The tires handle great on and off road. I did not notice a decrease in mileage.

I have 275/70/18's BFG/AT KO's rides like the truck it is They are 33" tires, look in proportion with my OME 2 1/2" lift.

fletch...I'm thinking of doing the same as you on my 2004 LX470. Any problems/issues since going with the 275/65/18 setup on your '04? Wonder why Michelin won't make a LTX M/S 2 in 275/60/18??? Clearly there is a market for them.

I ended up going with the Michelin LTX M/S2 in 275/65/18 about a month ago and have no issues to report. The ride is smooth and I expect to get great tread life. I will say that I prefer the look of the 275/60/18 on this truck but being stuck with the Latitude isn't worth the trade-off IMHO.
