I would say no. I also bought mine at Metaltech ordered them raw and rattle canned them. I felt like they were going to get scratched up, beat up anyway. Chipped powdercoat is a little harder to touch up than rattled canned sliders.

Have you looked at the slee sliders? Less $$ and come powdercoated, fyi.

The MT OPOR sliders are showing at $800 shipped to me non powder coated. Last I looked the Slee's were like $945 before shipping.

huh, ok, thought they were like $799 without the step option. No biggie to me!

To be clear, there's a difference between MT and OPOR. Price and construction.

Not sure if this is the norm, but on the MT sliders, the top of the vertical plates that but up against the frame would make contact with the underbody on my truck. I had to grind down about 1/4"-3/8" on a couple of the legs.

Same issue with the OPOR sliders.

Also if you can wait to Black Friday I would, they may have a sale. I bought mine on a 20% off sale from Metaltech

@WarWagon

MT sliders were a different design and construction spec than the OPOR. The MT slider is wider and it is also open on the backside so it also may be a bit lighter. You'll pay close to $150 locally for powder coating a set of sliders. So the price is comparable. They both get the job done, but I prefer the MT design for that wider step and asthetics- it looks good.

I said "were" above because it was my understanding they were changing the design of the MT slider moving forward (as of July) they were going to a two leg/support design vs three- makes it easier for them to inventory 1 slider for AHC & Non-AHC. I'm not sure about the other design changes- you might inquire.

You'll also probably find that OPOR are in stock, and MT aren't.

Last- it cost me around $150 to get sliders shipped from MetalTech shop to Atlanta. Have them search rates for "Terminal Pick Up" we used RoadRunner who has a good lane from NW OR to ATL. And the transit was 3 days.

Thanks for all the replies; I did notice the difference in MT and OPOR. I might try to hold off until Black Friday as suggested.

Other option of course are White Knuckles which everyone seems to love. I do like the look with the rear step cover plate.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a set of these.....is it worth paying a extra $165 for powder coating??

Thanks

For me I would still get them powder coated.
Yes, my powder coated sliders as well as my front and rear bumpers are scratched from being drug across rocks.
Yes, I touch them up with a rattle can once or twice per year.
But the rattle-canned areas are the first to show oxidation and surface rust. Unless you're willing to spend the time and money to thoroughly prep, prime, and paint your sliders, they will not look as good for as long as the professionally coated version would. Touching up the ends and undersides of bumpers and sliders is one thing, but to touch up the nooks and crannies that show bits of oxidation after a few years with a spray can, you'd have to drop the sliders and put some hours in. Probably every few years.

In other words, I think the powder coat provides a longer-lasting coating to the areas that are not easily touched up.

Don't hold your breath for a deal on MT Sliders for a 100 series, they rarely go on sale anymore and you'll probably wait a while for a production spot. The OPOR are normally in stock and seem to go on sale quarterly.

Another option to consider: BIOR makes a pretty nice product too.

Big fan of the OPOR here, I've beat on mine for a couple of years now (even refinished them once) and they've absolutely saved me several time all while looking good (tucked nicely, not sticking out far).
