My rig is making a metal on metal noise while driving forward. It sounds somewhat like brakes, but not quite. It makes the noise while moving forward with foot on or off the brake, while in neutral or drive. It does not make the noise while moving backward.

I checked the pads and rotors, and the fronts looked fine. Rear pads were down to about 50%, so I replaced them. Noise is still present. E-brake linings look OK.

The noise started Tues morning. I'm going to put the rear up on jackstands again and turn the wheels to see if I can isolate. Same with the front. Any guesses are welcome.

Happy thanksgiving.

Quick update. It appears to be coming from the passenger's side wheel. Hopefully a rock or something is stuck in the backing plate.

Time for turkey.

This is pretty embarrassing. The source of the noise was the pad inspection tab on the caliper. I must have been it out too far when I was checking out the pads the other week. Ack.
