Mercury tilt/trim? (1 Viewer)

My 04 merc 225 wont trim up or down. The relays for up and down click when I try to trim the motor but nothing happens. Is it the trim motor. I checked all breakers and connections( that I could find) We where catching a lot of fish too. I had to drain the hydraulic fluid and find some help to get the motor up. My six year old was pissed because the bite was on. Oh, the closest boat mechanic is 300 miles away.

check for a full 12 volts to trim motor, check fluid/no air and all connections, especially if it's a three wire, black is ground.

you shouldn't have to drain the fluid to release the motor to raise it, there should be a large screw on the side of the motor that does this however lifting the motor that big is still a bitch.

Thanks Steve, I should get too it later in the week. I'll check voltage first. The trim motor doesnt make any sound. I think that's the problem or the voltage too it.

alot of stuff won't operate without 12 volts, I had a bunch of stuff quit on me one night but the motor started fine, one battery was at 10.5.

Did you ever get this worked out? Also Merc outboards have a trim bypass screw, most of the time it is on starboard side of the transom mount at the base of the trim system.
