Steering wheels have been discontinued for over 10 years. They won’t have one. Trust me.

The good news is that really clean steering wheels show up on Ebay for as little as $1500

Just in case you thought i was joking

You can also find reconditioned seatbelt receivers and power antennas for an equally stout price.

I don’t think that’s a very bad price for a part that is necessary for a Concours restoration.

I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less because I needed it.

Just because that’s too much money for you doesn’t mean it’s absurd and requires ridicule.

The notion that because something is expensive and is not worth the price being asked for because one can’t afford it is ludicrous.

And unfortunately prevalent in the DIY world of LCs.

Didn't say it was too much for me and didn't comment on whether anyone else can afford it. I value our community, our vendors, the dealer network, the parts websites etc and I value reading opinions of other people concerning parts and part pricing etc. This is a forum where we discuss these things. I value your opinion and I understand your view and your knowledge concerning these parts. I'm unfortunately also aware that there are many people out there looking to bilk the population with sub par parts, scams, etc. I am always wary of "restored" items I see on sources like Ebay and I would need to have full confidence in the seller if I a perfect steering wheel to be sure I wasn't buying a papermache battleship.

I'll expand and say that the general public has little understanding of the cost of doing business and the cost of providing a product or service. The gut reaction is that everything is overpriced. The reality is that most things on the market are offered at the slimmest of margins and there is little if any room to lower a price. A real and proper vehicle restoration can easily be in the $50k to $100k range depending on original condition. So if I am building a concourse level LC and the last thing I need is a perfect steering wheel....and I feel confident that the Ebay auction is a) my only option, and b) is from a seller who is providing a legitimate and proper service then $1500 is valid. If I'm just a guy who wants to replace the steering wheel in my truck because my original one is sun baked, cracked and falling apart then I'm probably going to decide that $1500 is a tad high for my liking. But what do I know.

FYI. There are barely any flights between the US and Japan at the moment. Unless you pay for expensive courier shipping, you will be waiting for a very long time.

I recently fedexed my wife’s passport back to her in Vietnam. It got there in 4 days and only cost $75. 😂

1500 is too rich for my blood but then again money isn't an issue. I just want a steering wheel that doesn't have the dental diagram of some wolf hybrid. The folks up this way hold on to their cruisers til the bitter end, so i found one that needs some love.

Thank you all for enlightening the conversation with the inner workings of the crazy world of parts scarcity, gouging, and high end restos. I'm super stoked to be a part of the cruiser fam.

Says the guy who probably has a crate full of steering wheels...

And I know arrogance is sort of your “brand” or whatever but come on, man.

Can we provide some oxygen for you up on that high horse of yours?

I ordered a few parts from Megazip two weeks ago (Trailer-wire harness and a bolts for the tail gate). Total cost plus FedEx shipping (International/overnight) was $123. The cheapest I found the wire harness in the US was $148 shipped. Communication is only via internal message and due to the time delay it can take over a day to get a response. However, they confirmed the part for my rig.

They're running a discount now which I took advantage of which basically paid for the overnight shipping.

FYI - if you're gonna use Megazip you have to VERIFY the parts are coming from the SAME LOCATION. Otherwise they could come from 2-3 places around the world and shipping prices dramatically increase.[/QUOTE]

A bunch of us have had good luck with a wire harness off of Amazon thats for a later toyota but is plug and play and just needs a few terminals swapped to work with the 60. Cost about $40 iirc and shipping might have been free.

You got a part number for that?

Should be this one. Can’t find the thread, but works great on my 60

Hopkins 43315 Plug-In Simple... Amazon product ASIN B0002Q7ZKK
