Have a new to me 470: 2008, 96k miles, always serviced consistently at a dealership, everything in good working order (replaced a CV, have done the timing belt/water pump, drain/fill of the transmission). Planning to do the brakes soon, but I'm guessing there may be a few more things I should be doing to establish a good baseline and would like to find a local shop to work with on making sure everything is in good shape, and to keep it running. I'm not at all opposed to using the dealership in town, but guessing there may be a better fit for this type of use.

My initial thought has been to go to to Adventure Motors (a little more than 2 hours drive), but that's a bit of a haul if there's something wrong. The other option I know is Ozark Overland Outfitters (about 90 minute drive). Who else should I be looking at to help with baseline + my build in Springfield, MO or surrounding areas?

Ozark Overland Outfitters is great but he has more of a fabrication/true off road shop for upgrades/builds, rather than a normal mechanic shop.

These GX's share a the vast majority of their parts with Tundras, Tacomas, 4Runners, etc, so they are actually pretty common and most shops can work on them and get parts for them easily. I would ask around and find an independent shop who specializes in Toyotas and utilize them for most maintenance and routine repair, then one of the actual off-road shops for mods/upgrades. I definitely wouldn't take it to Jiffy Lube, but these are common enough any mechanic specializing imports and Toyotas can work on them.
