Mechanic for Timing Belt Change and 90k Service

My friend has a 99 100 series, with a 103k miles. He needs a timing belt change and the 90k mile service. Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably east valley, but he is probably flexible on that.

I am going to need the same on my 01 Sequoia pretty soon.

I was going to recommend Vern, as he has previously done good work on my Sequoia, but after Sean's experience I am hesitant.

On a side note, I was just doing a bit of reading on this subject and found Phils thread on waiting for 130k to replace the TB.

Phil, are you still standing by that recommendation?

If he replaces it now, would you recommend that he also do the water pump and pulleys-- everything that you did at 130k?

I don't know Mike Thiel-- does he have a shop or work out of his house? Use toyota parts and all that?

He was a tech at Tempe Toy. He rebuild my 90 4Runner and did a great job. I think he's fair and honest. He's busy...I have to schedule everything with him...it's him and another guy. They are on 56th and Ray in Chandler next to Home Depot.

I took my 62 to Thiele's, and while I think they did a good job, it's for-e-ver. Like 3 weeks to change some belts and hoses Maybe I caught them at a bad time
