I'm ready to order an axle and I'm not sure how long it be. I've converted a boat trailer to a light duty off road trailer. The tires/wheel combo will match my 60. (15 in wheels & 33 in tires). So how much space is needed between the tire and trailer?
Thanks

Trailer axles don't really articulate like the tow rig's do. It's easier for the trailer to rotate around the coupler instead. So "articulation" really only happens during one-tire bumps. That makes rubbing the sidewall's of the trailer tires on the frame or some other part a lot harder to do.

How compliant is the suspension?

Thanks for the info. The suspension is the normal leaf spring set up.

Generally speaking, the you should allow 15" more than the spring mount dimensions, i.e. If your trailer bed is 50" wide the spring mounts will be 50" wide and you would get an axle described as a 50-65 or 7 1/2" on each side of the spring mount. This allows room for tires within reason. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the replies. On to ordering an axle.
