Jeff Bomke and Tony Twiddy are pleased to present another running of the McGrew Trail Ride, Saturday, July 28th, departing from O'Brien, OR on Hwy 199 between Crescent City and Grants Pass.

Attendees can arrive Friday night and camp behind the O'Brien store.... but no fires please.
We will depart from there (store, ice, gas available) and spend the day running the 14 miles of extremely rough and rocky historic McGrew Trail.

The wheeling is light to moderate and many stock trucks have successfully negotiated this route without any body damage. We strongly recommend this run for New FJ Cruiser owners, new truck owner and folks who are simply new to four wheeling. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your off road ability... and if you are already experienced beyond your years, then this is a great opportunity to give back to the sport by mentoring someone through the trail.

That night, you will camp along the Smith River, CA only wild and scenic river. Dinner will be Pot Luck style and everyone is encouraged to participate and eat! There has consistently been more than enough food, good variety and simply very good.

We also have a very informal raffle... while lots of fun, certainly nothing to write home about.

Sunday we will depart, one group heading towards Oregon and one group heading to CA.

Registration forms will be in an upcoming issue of Trails. Truck count ranges from 25 to 35 and we plan to keep it small.

i,m going to be there tony lots of fun last year

I'm in limbo if I'm going to make it this year. I'm hoping to be right in the middle of building my new house. I know that Ryleigh is looking forward to going again. I'll probally need a weekend off from work and pounding nails. Well see.

Up down up down up down up down...... :D Hope you make it!

Well, I guess I have to go for my 3rd year too, since I was lucky enough to be given a free registration in the raffle last year.
Looking forward to seeing all the great folks from last year.

Hey Jerod...nice vids! Is your brother coming too this year?

There is a 99% chance that I will make it this year.I have always wanted to do this run.
Simon:cheers:

I will be there! Wifey says it is a Father's Day gift. This will be my first time as well as my first TLCA event. Hope to meet some great folks and have a great time! Where do I sign up?

There will be a sign up thingy in an upcoming Toyota Trails. Then you send some money to Jeff, and he mails you some papers.... Then you go! :D

Where are you from Joel? The Klamath basin sounds close to The Sate of Jefferson.... :D I'm in Yreka.

I'm in KFalls OR. We call this part Jefferson State too. Lots of things are Jefferson State this or Jefferson State that.

How much has it cost in the past?

RredFJ40...

first TLCA Event?? You're going to have an excellent time... but do know that the McGrew run is certainly unique as far as TLCA events go. It is by the far the smallest and most 'intimate' TLCA events... we keep the truck count below 35, pot luck dinner in which everyone brings something to share, and really no raffle to speak of although we do have some after dinner camp fire activities.

The price is running about $40 and that includes your dash plaque and event shirt. When you register, you can order more shirts.

The trail ride itself (and really the event) is one day only, Saturday, although we will then camp that night on teh Smith River, and everyone will exit in two groups on Sunday.

You can expect to see an event flier/registration form in Trails soon (Todd is working one up for us right now) and you can use that to register. No rush, we have never maxed out the event yet.

We have permission from the O'Brien store owner to camp friday night in the field behind the store. So you can arrive Friday night, snooze, everyone meets right there in the morning for driver meeting, and we depart from the store around 9 AM. You can also get food, ice and fuel if need be there. No fires though.

of all the events I attend or host, this is by far one of my most favorites, but that is mainly because of the friends and folks who attend.

Mcgrew was my first TLCA event Trail ride last year, and let me tell you that it was a great experience. It is a great event to take the whole family,I brought along last year my 14 month old daughter and she loved it. Tony and Jeff do an excellent job of hosting, and teaching for all particapants. The potluck is great (I'm not bringing Pasta Salad this year). The river at the end of the day feels great also. Hope to see you there.

Last year I was up in Oregon at the Steens. On my way back I wanted to hook up late Sat at the river but missed the turn off North Bank rd so I cruised home.
With my new job I'm off Sat, Sun, Mon during daylight savings time so I'M IN. Looking forward. I also hope I'll have my sliders by then.
See you'all on the trail.

I've been trying to make this run for 3 years too. Looks like I can make it this year.
Any pre-registering available...or am I gonna have to wait for the 'Trails issue with the form? Count me in! ...okay...patience...I'll be waiting by my mailbox for the form. Heck, I might even be able to make a few PMC meetings this year too.

Hit me up if you need help with the swag (yeah, I know my track record isn't so good - but nobody's ever taken me up, really) I'd be happy to help or donate something for the raffle.
