So are folks still up for a pre-run of McGrew on the 12th?

Confirmed Drivers:
knoll0351
FlyRod
Ebag333 - Cell: 541-301-4815
Heron
2ndGenToyotaFan (possibly going to break his truck again)

Co-Pilots/Waiters:
CJF (riding with Ebag)
Darkrealms (possibly driver)

Meeting times/locations:
6 AM - Ashland (Flyrod/Steve's house)
6:30 AM - Central Point (Pilot and/or Ebag's house)
7:00 AM - Grants Pass (Dutch Brothers Coffee stand just before the exit to the County Fairgrounds) (Tenative time)
8:00 AM - O'Brien store (for last minute folks?) (Tenative time)

One question I have is what sort of rigs can make the run. Like for example a certain non-lifted, triple locked pink panty (but with ~1" taller tires than stock).

(Note: I screwed up on the date. It should read the 12th, not the 19th. )

Oops, you're right, the 12th!

/me edits his post

From what I've read a couple of stock trucks have made it through fine. I don't mind a few bumps here and there of trail damage, and I'll definatly take off my poser brush guard and side steps, which should buy me some clearance. Just wanted to know if it's technically possible without major trail damage (IE: ripping off a swaybar, caving in a quarter panel, etc).

The only damage I could see to a stock rig besides the brush scratches would be running boards and if those are pulled the rocker panels should clear. Like Jerod said not too technical just really bumpy.

Yeah, McGrew is only as hard as you make it.... IE with optional lines.... :D

Yeah, I'm not afraid to be a wuss. :hillbilly:

So how does this usually go down? Head up Fri evening, run the trail Sat, camp Sat night, back on Sun? Just trying to figure out if I need to ask for a bit of time off.

I love Chicago!

I'm not a fan of big cities, but I'll make an exception for Chicaga.

You going to bring us all back some deep dish pizza? I'll kill someone for a Chicago style pie. :grinpimp:

Good, if the Caird isn't up and running by then, I'll just take your 80.....

Are you STILL not up and running? Sheesh, get a horse and buggy!

I recommend taking off running boards, mudflaps and 33's are recommended by me. A nice 80 like yours will definitely show the scratches more than my faded tan 60... I saw an 100 series make it but with some deep scratches.. The McGrew has the potential to do serious damage but you should be all right.. I took a stock 67 on 29's years ago but wouldn't do that again, its not as nice as it used to be.

I'm already planning the bedliner. Definatly roof and the body cladding at the least. Now I just need an excuse to shell out the $$$ for it.... :hmm:

I was out there this weekend and only ran a short section of the tail end to make a call...it was still pretty grown over and lots of "sticks" on the trail. The jeepers make a fathers day run every year so they do a whole lot of trail maintanace and you can really tell. I'm in unltess I don't get my skids back up and mounted....oh yeah and also fix whatever is wrong with my IFS...must have bent something when steering is straight I go right....once I get the skids off I'll know alot more about how bad it is.

Jerod- Can you edit this threads title to correct the date, don't want to confuse anyone. Thanks Gabe

At least one of us gets to go. ;p

So, any thoughts as to length of time running the trail?

They say four hours I think but the last time I ran thru backward with wife and kids it took under three'ish with stops...but we were makin' pretty good time.

True, very true.

You guys better decide whether you are running in and out the same day, which parts of the trail to run and a meeting place. Again I will be too busy throwing back 's at Wrigley!

I figured I'd pull the running boards, mudflaps and hitch. I'll put the spare in the back also.

Does anyone know where to get a highlift rebuild kit in MFR? I would love to do and early am start and get back the same day.

Jerod, feel free to jump a ride with me if the caird isn't up and running. I'll need someone to feed me cold drinks from the Engle.:D

Call Big R and the new Sportsmans Warehouse, they have quite a few accessories not sure on the kit though.
