Hey guys, that time again, ACLC meeting will be this Saturday at Panera Bread (1604/blanco) 9am.

Posting this for the guys who don't have Facebook

Thanks Cody... I may actually be able to make it this time! See you there.

I will be there.

I'll be in Pace Bend for the weekend. For what it's worth (since I've never actually been to a meeting yet), I think there might be some more interest if the location was more central.

Like I told Cody and Ryan, lots of 60/62's driving around the Midtown/Pearl/Alamo Heights area.

I agree. I hardly ever go out that way myself.

They are posted on facebook which I don't use so I was relying on @cwwfj60 for updates. Now that he is leaving San Antonio, I guess it is up to someone else that uses facebook if they want to post updates here on ih8mud as well.

They are posted on Facebook, but since I deplore Facebook, I usually look for updates in this forum. Cody has been pretty good about posting updates here, but he's moving on to bigger and better things. So maybe someone else can pick up the torch.

That being said, most meetings are on the first Saturday of the month at 9am. The location is Panera On Blanco & 1604, but I think we should consider rotating locations to include more folks.

I am with you on rotating locations. That would be nice.

Thanks for the response. I also got a reply on FB.
What's this about Cody leaving. I just got my 73 cruiser and was hoping that he could repair some items like brake master cyl.

He is on to greener pastures and I can't say I blame him. Huge loss for my cruiser although I was fortunate enough to have him do a lot of work on it. Had it not been done, I probably would have gotten rid of it. I drive it almost daily now!

If anyone here knows of a local mechanic that is even half as good as Cody is, let me know but something tells me I am going to have to make time to learn how to fix my cruiser now.

I heard Dealer Alternative was an option for old cruisers to some degree, but they shut down last month. An internet search can give you all the gossip and rumors as to why that may have happened.

Alamo Auto Doctors is listed on the "Cruiser Mechanics by state" thread. Anyone have any experience with them?

No experience with them but based on a certain review I am seeing online, I don't think I would use them. Of course, it is just one review so maybe others have more input that could convince me otherwise.

I was referred to this business by a friend who had them rebuild an old Jeep. Supposedly experts on Toyota Land Cruisers and 4-Runners, this seemed an ideal shop to help restore my old '87 4-Runner. $3300.00 later I have a vehicle whose brand new air conditioner doesn't work properly. Buyer beware! This business' receipts offer no written or implied warranty and the shop refuses to even look at their own work. To add insult to financial and automotive injury, the owners treated me like a criminal and I was referred to as an "idiot" when I tried to communicate with them about why the AC still didn't work. I see there are other positive reviews for their services on this site and, at first, this husband and wife team seemed to be very helpful and willing to accommodate the gradual restoration of an old vehicle. In the end, however, they both turned out to be remarkably unprofessional and downright rude. Are there ANY HONEST mechanics left in the world?!?

Very interesting... thanks for sharing.

Perhaps if you are over on "the dark side" aka Facebook group (as Cody put it), you can get better luck with answers to the question or finding a local mechanic elsewhere. Please let me know if you do.
