Many people were not at the meeting last night, but there were a few of issues that we needed to get going on. First is ICBM held at Barnwell Mountain every year around Sept/Oct. We tossed around the 20th of OCtober, but we were approached by the TTR guys about joining up with them and the TTORA group at Halloween and make it a big event. Chris King said he would help plan everything and I assume that it will not be an "event" but rather just the laid back gathering that we have always had, just with more guys. The weather should be cooler that time of year and I am all for it. You guys need to vent your opinion on this so we can get dates posted.

Another issue is that with me moving to Colorado, you guys need to come up with a VP. Steve Laird is ready to take the position but you will need to get another Treasurer. Steve would be perfect for VP, but he is such a good T that I would hate to see him leave. You guys decide.

Third is about my ARB account. I have had this account since about 1987 and hated to just close it, so I have talked to ARB and they are willing and happy to make Butch a dealer, so you guys will still have an outlet for ARB stuff.

Fourth is that I need to say that I have never been involved in a club situation before LSLC and you guys are real quality people. I plan on coming back often and hopefully make some meetings, but wanted to express my thanks for letting me hang out with you.

I'm all for joining forces with the Taco guys at ICBM. So we're talking the 27-28th, right?

Steve has always done a hell of a job as treasurer, and if it were up to me I'd make him treasurer for life :D but I totally understand if he wants to change or if someone thinks we should change things up. I'll support whatever he decides to do.

I'm sorry your leaving us Gary, but at least we have another house to crash when we want to go to Colorado. :flipoff2:

Gary, you are real good people- class act all the way. I hope we can run into each other in Colorado this summer. :)

The work on your rigs has set the standard, and inspired many, including me, to strive for perfection. Thanks for the great memories!

For everyone else's benefit, the Texas Chapter of TTORA, of which I am also the President, has for years come to BMRA for a Halloween run. As Gary said, it is not an "Event" in the sense that Jamboree is, but is just a laid back get-together. The weather is always perfect, I do not believe anyone will be disappointed.

This plan came about for several reasons: Since ICBM had always been around the 3rd week of September, and the Halloween Run had always been the last weekend of October, it gave everyone an opportunity to attend both runs. In fact, last years there were about a dozen Toyota Trail Riders and another 6-8 TTORA guys from both Houston & Austin/San Antonio that came up for ICBM.

We figured that backing up ICBM into the middle of October might cause more people conflict, and by forcing many to choose one over the other, both would loose.

I will work on setting things up- the only thing we do is we have a pot luck dinner Saturday night. If there is enough interest, I think it would be good to see all 3 clubs pitch in a little something and have a group meal, but that will be decided later on.

I am excited to see off-roaders get together, and these three Toyota clubs (4 counting TWToE) have so much in common that this should be a real fun time!

i'd prefer we don't go halloween weekend, for two reasons.
one, the family thing i've gotta do with the wife and boy for halloween.
also, that's when i've got my mountain biking trip to moab, which is the week before, so that i can get back in time for halloween.
i don't want to hold it up, and i'm all for later in the year, but maybe another weekend?
i'll be debuting some new changes to longboard, so i'd like to be able to go.
if not to icbm, then we will all just have to plan another wheeling trip. darn. :)

Another ICBM that I can't attend. 27/28 is my Military weekend for October.
For planning purposes the 3rd and 4th weekends of the month are usually drill weekend for reserve units. If we schedule our events on the first or second weekend it would help me and my fellow citizen soldiers.

would this mean that the "lone star" campground that we used last year would be even more crowded than last year, if we combine two events? Its a pretty small campground. I ask this because I think that the campground was already too crowded, considering the fact that some people, but not all of us, like to stay up partying and wrenching till 3am in the morning.

secondly, I am sad to see you go, Gary, but am very happy to hear that we will still see you ever so often throughout the year. You have been a good freind and valuable resource in the local Land Cruiser community. I will miss you, but am glad that we will continue to see you at events and even at a few meetings. Best wishes to you and your family. I know you are moving to a very beautiful part of the world and would do it myself if I thought I could pull it off.

That is a real good question. The way it is usually handled is simply prohibiting tow rigs from camp. A little cooperation in keeping tow rigs and trailers up in the parking area instead of dragging them into camp does wonders for managing the space.

Recognizing that there is a space issue and parking considerately also helps. I've seen people try and cram a rig deep into an area designed for camping just so they wouldn't have to walk 15 feet to their truck, and meanwhile there's some folks getting pissed off because there's now no place to put a tent up.

We will definitely pay attention to the parking issue. Old Camp is particularly difficult because there is a marked trail running through the middle of it that must be kept clear.

Many people don't know there are actually half a dozen other campsites around the mountain, the best of which by far is the North Texas Binders Camp. IMHO, it is actually much better situated for the crowd we anticipate, but I know some people just get used to going to the same place and/or are afraid of change. We will work hard on making camp comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.
