Hey everyone, new guy here, and to not duplicate threads, here's my intro thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-section/318093-n00b-az.html

I believe I have met a number of you at various events and trail runs around AZ, especially since we got the 07 FJ Cruiser way back when in 08.

Anyway, I am considering the purchase of either a 80 or 100 series LC, and I have already looked at a few 100s but the 80s are damn hard to find. So, I am curious if there are any local Phoenix 80 owners that would let me take a close look at their truck? I have found plenty of nice looking 80s for sale with in a couple hundred miles of Phoenix but I just don't want to drive all the way the hell out to see one for really the first time not even knowing if I am going to like it or not. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!
 
The easiest way to see a lot of them is to come to one of the Sonic meets on the 3rd friday of every month.

Yea that is what I was thinking as well. I am going to make it to the Oct meet for sure. I'd really like to start making a deal on an LC by that time, but if I have to wait, that isn't too big of a deal. Thanks!

The key to finding that 80 is Patience.
 
I must have looked at 25+ cruisers online, went and looked at 10 and took me 2 months + before i found my 97 lx450 which is all stock but well cared for. I was looking at all 91 to 97 until i decided on a OBDII 95 thru 97 and just kept looking. What i suggest is decide on what years you want and read the forums of what to look for and what to watch out for. I did and I think i got me a good one

What's up Cypher. I bought one in NM for a really good price. You can check it out anytime. It's stocked, not locked. How's your FJ and Nismo? My wife drives mine now but I'm dying to hit some trials.
 
You'd be welcome to take a look at either or both of mine but they aren't exactly perfect specimens. :D
 
Ebay is a good place to "window shop." Most sellers post dozens of pics and often specifically take pics of blemishes. It's a good way to familiarize yourself with the trucks.:idea:

Hey Tommy! How's it going man! Good to hear from you... The FJ is doing great, I mean it's an FJ hehe. The Nismo is doing just as good, but I am getting rid of it and looking to replace it with an 80 or 100. Yea we definitely need to hit some trails sometime soon. Let me know when you are planning something and I will do the same...

Hahaha.. Thanks and I may just take you up on this. I really just want to get a good idea of size and feel while sitting in the driver's seat, check out the under side, sit in the back seats, and just take in the details of the rig. I have been researching the hell out of them and know the specs by heart now.

Yea I have been doing lots of "window shopping" all over the place. EBay is a good place for getting lots of detailed pics of vehicles. Autotrader isn't bad either but most of the pics there are low res and sometimes tough to really see the details.
