Well folks, I'm pretty new to MUD, but I really enjoy everything here. So, I see that a lot of people are looking to 'scratch build' trailers ( I am one of these ). Others want a "quality" military trailer to build from. I've also seen that folks are having a HECK of a time trying to find those pearls. I'm not in a location or position to purchase one of these but I felt that other MUD members might not have the following information:

Government Surplus Auctions at Government Liquidation

This is THE clearing house for all things military!!!:bounce: From clothes to vehicles. No Joke! This is the Dr. MO (Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office) auction site. I have seen many 'M' series trailers go on this site for as little as $150.00 (Not Kidding)

I hope that someone finds this information useful.

The problem with current surplus auctions is that the 1/4 ton military trailers favored for use behind the typical 4x4 have pretty much been purged from the system already.

Nearly all the M-series trailers listed are much heavier and bulkier than the M100/M416/M101 CDN trailers favored by the off-road community.

Now if you have a Hummer, dually, or 3/4 ton pickup, you can really bring home the firewood with one of those larger trailers. For typical trail duty, they're bigger than most would want.

I found our M101 CDN in the classifieds here on MUD. I don't have the fab skills or shop equipment to build either, so I patiently looked until I found a deal close enough to latch onto from a fellow MUD member. Others have had success in watching Craig's List or Ebay for a suitable trailer. Good luck in your quest.

The only trailer I would be interested in off that site would be the US M101A2. These can towed behind smaller cruisers. I have a US M101A1 that I have pulled behind a FJ40 and FJ62 locally. Behind a Tundra and 100 series on the highway. It's the M105 that can really use a bigger tow vehicle. It's a great trailer for use around our cabin. I do agree that it really to big to be used as a off road trailer. For the price (less than $200) you can't beat it for utility trailer that dumps.

I didn't realize that they were that heavy (until I really looked). I have pulled most of these in my job from time to time, but it was always behind something rather large. I did see several M101A's in various locations across the US, I just don't happen to currently be in the US to avail myself to one of them.
