My FJ40 is white with the original paint. It was built in May of '76. I've been told that this is the Cignus White T12 code, but the color charts say that this was no longer a body paint color after '75. The other option would be the 031 white (is this also called Cignus White)? Can anyone verify if this correct for touch-up paint?

Here's the chart I am referring to, and yes I did search:

Thanks guys.

My 82 JDM vin plate says T12

it doesn't have the data tag on the firewall with the color and trim code?

The truck is about to be en route on a shipper, so I don't have it here. I wanted to go ahead and get some touch-up paint, but I'll wait and check the firewall. Great point.

Is it on the VIN plate on the DS door?

The plate on the firewall has engine/drivetrain and body and trim details.
Depending on what market it is from some have VIN on door and some do not.

In N/A for that year the plate on the door sill has the GVR and the vin. The data plate on the firewall has the model, engine info, color, trim, tranny and diff etc.

This is T-12 Cygnus White. Way different than I thought.

Well that is exactly what I thought. I went to the paint store ordered T12. When they opened the can and showed me I just about threw up. Not what I was thinking. Ran home painted a tailgate and thought gross. Had one day to decide to use it or change color. The decision is obvious now I really like the color lots of compliments and looks.

I have the vin plate on the door sill of my May 73 and Nov. 75 FJ40's. I do not have the firewall data plate on either 40. I am going to re-paint the white 73. Where exactly on the firewall is the pate supposed to be? I am guessing that the T12 color is right for me but was wanting to make sure. I was not aware of the firewall data plate until reading this thread.

cygnus white

I thought cygnus white was a color for the Hardtops lid---didnt know they painted whole vehicles with it? is that right?

I used a single stage polyurethane inside my tub---have yet to do the outside but I am going to use the poly on that too. Reasoning that with no clear coat I can rub out scratches and touch up

I used interlux brightsides hatteris white (marine paint) ---a kind of off white, the tan is bedliner over top it. I like it, it is clean looking and will shine, but not too brilliant white which to me looks too modern on an FJ

but with paint to each his own eh?

I just picked up a pint of 012 code per my data plate. Looks way too dark, but I am still waiting for it to dry. Will post up later with update.

Well, I am eating my words. The match is PERFECT. I guess my 40 is not as bright white as I thought!
