Next workday is May 17th. Please make arrangements to come out to support our trails. Not be working on Wolf Den as it is now done thanks to the Contractor working with me to get it done. You can see a bunch of pics about our trail over on NC4x4 and the work that has been done. Thanks .

Can we make May a ONSC-scheduled work day? As in can we pick our own day?

I can't make May 17. Could probably make May 10, May 24 or May 31.

I should be able to make any of these weekends if it moves or stays the same. I just need to do some yard maintenance of my own, first!

I could probably make it down on the 24th but all the other weekends are booked. Sundays are better for me too if a Sunday would work that weekend.

I've got the 17th marked on the calendar ... after that, things get tight. I have Hot Garage Passes to the CocaCola 600 the next weekend (and that being Memorial Day, the trails will likely be hellish) then I have to start prepping for a little venture to NW Wyoming in June ...

This still happening on Saturday?

OK ... just hadn't seen any activity on the thread ....

Yep. Story of my life there. :meh:

You all will be working on Daniel. Not gotten a email yet but just chatted on the phone with Terry. Jeff will be the one out there for the USFS . He is a good guy to be with.

Hi Everyone – Sorry for the late email about this weekend’s work day. We’ve been scrambling getting the shooting range ready to be opened (Yes, the range is now open!!!) and I didn’t have enough time to get some of the supplies and materials set up for this weekend’s work day. Sorry about that. June’s will be a little more detailed and organized.

Daniel Trail - Here’s the game plan for this weekend. Jeff Greene will meet everyone at 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp and get the volunteers set up with passes, signed up on the sheet. CTB has a project lined up to work on Daniel Trail to install riprap and do some machine work. There is also a couple of illegal trails to be blocked off between the Cotton Place Trailhead and the lower ledge on Daniel Trail. There are posts and short pieces of rail at the Arrowhead CG spray field that need to be hauled to Cotton Place Trailhead and then up to the sites that need to be blocked off. I think there are only 2 or 3 places that need to be blocked off but I’m not sure. Hopefully, Jason from CTB or another person that’s been there recently will be up on Saturday so we know how many guardrails to get. I think at the most you’d need 3 short rails and 6 posts for these illegal trails. If we don’t know for sure how many need to be blocked off count them on Saturday and send me an email next week and this can be a project in June.

Rest of the Trails - If you’re not going to be working on the Daniel Trail with the CTB group please block off illegal bypasses and trails people are making out of the ends of tail ditches, short cuts between trail intersections, etc. with slash and boulders that you’re able to move with your winches and rock bars and tools. That will help out a lot and look a lot better than the guardrail. Also, cut back the trees and branches that are overhanging the trails, pick up trash on the trails and at the dispersed campsites, and around the trailheads. Jeff will have trash bags, but please bring your pruners, loppers, and bow saws to brush back the trails. They’re beginning to get overgrown and this will improve the visibility, especially at the road and trail crossings and at the motorized and nom-motorized trail crossings.

Jeff – Please bring the 2 augers and 1 can of mix gas, the ratchets, nuts and bolts, rock bars, shovels and post hole diggers and sledge hammers. These are in the back bay in the rec cage or just outside the rec cage. There is also a red crate on the table outside the rec cage, with cable and other items to use to drag the guardrail to Daniel Trail.

Thanks a lot everyone. I appreciate it. Whatever tools you don’t get back to Jeff at the end of the day, please take to Janet’s at Arrowhead Campground. You can put them in the shed at her Host Site. Thanks again. I appreciate your help. Bye - Terry

Can finally make one.

Sam, can I catch a ride with you? If so, let me know where and when to meet you.

Text sent ... should be able to figure something out ....

Incredibly great weather and trail conditions today. Eric even let me drive his 80. Surprisingly it was Sam's first time to URE and his 80 performed flawlessly.

Sam, Eric and I picked up trash on Dickey Bell while Thomas allegedly picked up trash on Wolf's Den and Falls Dam (His 80 was spotted at the shooting range around lunchtime :-)).

Honestly, Dickey Bell was cleaner than I'd ever seen it but we still managed to gather a fair amount of trash. Most of it was already bagged at a campsite that appeared to have been vacated in a hurry, possibly during one of the recent storms.

All in all, it was a good day to be on the trails.

Yep. Great day in the woods and relaxing afternoon up there.

Got some good work done on Lake Horse trail and made sure people knew i was an OHV guy working on the horse trails to cross crafts. I was even wearing my newest ONSC shirt out there.

Alot harder on the horse trails to get stuff in there as hey are pretty narrow.

Sorry that there was not a really hard workday done on our trails but i was under the impression that a certain clubs was coming out to work on their trail. Was not the case. I had a spot i wanted to get done out there on Falls Dam but was not too worried about it.

Wolf Den was still in great shape so i am happy about that.

I do know FOU gave some stuff away out there. One guy on here got something and so did a friend of his. Hoping he will post pics of both being used here soon for me to forward to the people that gave it to me for this cause. I know they are still up there right now having a good time.

Never know when FOU / me will give you something out there for just showing up.
