Does a master cyl for a 198?? US FJ60 interchange with a 1985 JDM BJ73?

The part numbers for the assemblies are different, but superficially they look similar. I have no info on bore size/rod length/etc, but the rebuild kits are the same part number, so they're probably the same bore size.

Wont the US spec 60 will have the outlets facing to the opposite side on the MC?

As for the RHD models,Roodogs sells them one as size fits all except pre 11/84 60 series.

What I found agrees with what you found

Brake Master Cylinder Assy
BJ70 47201-60220
BJ60/FJ60 47201-60130
FJ40 47201-60130 (final years with split transfer case)

A few other items that factor into this;

• the front disk brake assemblies are identical for all three
• the rear drum assemblies are identical for all three
• I have used my spare MC for my FJ40 on my BJ70; exact match for physical fit and operation

The unknowns are if there are differences between proportioning valves and LSPV's.

If your BJ73 has the disks brakes on the front and drums on the rear, your BJ73 MC should be designed to the operational requirements as the FJ40/FJ60/BJ70 and accept a MC from these trucks as a suitable replacement.

Not a clear answer, but maybe some of this can be helpful to you.

s***, I hadn't thought about that. I checked some pics online just now and it looooks like all truck (LHD or RHD) have the outlets on the left... so I think I'm ok.

Yes they do have them on the left. I thought of that after ,which is cheaper than redesigning a whole new MC LOL
