If you disconnect both brake lines off your master cylinder is the fluid supposed to slowly leak out of both ports or just one. I would think fluid should slowly leak out of BOTH ports until the reservoir empties itself.

Just got a rebuilt cylinder and I can't get any fluid to come out of the side port at all. I get about 1 drip per second coming out of the top/end port (going to rear brakes) which means gravity is doing it's job and the port is open enough to let the fluid pass but nothing comes out of the side port (going to front brakes).

Just trying to see if this is normal or if I have a piston inside that was put in wrong. Yes I have bench bled the unit and fluid does come out the side port but only when I force it. I'm just trying to figure out if the side port is supposed to act like that.

QUESTION: Is fluid supposed to slowly leak out of the side port on the master brake cylinder if you simply disconnect the line?

Someone has got to know this ;p The next time someone bleeds theirs just let me know if they see fluid coming out the side port. That will tell me is this rebuilt unit is faulty or not.

Thanks!

Have you connected the lines and bled the system at the wheels yet? If you get strong streams at all the wheels and can eliminate the air then you are all set. IMHO I don't consider fluid dripping from one port and not the other a valid test.

Yeah, I don't know about fluid dripping being valid. I bench bled mine on the car (car bled?), but I do remember that a lot more fluid comes out of one of the ports (I think the end one) than the other.
