This is Mary, a 1984 FJ60, here at Hardline Fabrication Services for some R&R. She is getting an LS3 Connect and Cruise package, all new suspension, new interior, full frame and axle media blast and re paint, Lizard skin inside and out along with a host of other goodies.

Drive line is out and gone to a new home.

Body is off the frame. An odd mix on this truck, the body is in pretty good shape for the most part with areas absolutely pristine while the rear half of the frame has some serious rust.

Body will get full underside and fire wall stripped, any repairs done, primed, Lizard Skin and painted

The frame is almost completely taken down now and will be off to the media blaster

This is going to be awesome! looking forward to seeing your progress!

The frame and axle housings are back from the media blaster. Primed with epoxy primer. More axle and brake parts on the rack primed and painted.

If you have ever put on a set of OME lift springs you know that they start to rust up pretty quick. These have been red oxide primed and then shot with black. Yellow shocks will end up black as well.

And all the damn stickers and shipping labels and tape make it where i won't just slap them on

Have you considered having the frame galvanized? As I understand it, the frames rust/rot from the inside out. Having the frame blasted and painted makes it look amazing on the surface, but is it really protected?
I know that using galvanized frames is big in the Land Rover community, but I don't see many people here doing it.
I have a "spare" FJ60 frame in my basement in perfect condition, even the rear section is perfect. My long range plan was to have it galvanized.

I have considered it, looked into it in the past. First obstacle is finding a place that will do it, the number gets smaller every day. The second is finding someone that will pay for shipping both ways as well as the galvanizing process itself. Another aspect is that the entire truck must be built out with everything you plan to have attached to the frame (read welded) and then completely pulled apart and shipped off, then re assembled once returned. Very few people out there willing to pay for that.

Mary's frame is painted and axles are ready to go!

I can't tell you exactly what it is, but I sure do like the look of a nice clean roller :)

Shocking

I was being sarcastic Tommy. Right where the wheel well is reinforced on the inside and outside for the rear seat mount. Moisture gets trapped in there and rust is inevitable. I've seen rust there on a lot of 60/62 series.

I know your sarcasm. Lol Yea s***y design i guess. Oqner had it fixed by a body shop after it left my hands. Are you doing the repair?

Yes sir I am.

Passenger side wheel well

Finally got a couple of trucks out of here and back on track with Mary. I was not willing to risk a bent body by only using the front and rear body mounts to put her on the twirler so I mad trusses to catch all the body mounts. Ready to start stripping the bottom and fire wall and do the metal repairs that are required.
