I’m looking to sell the 470 but am not sure what the real market value is right now for my ‘08. Vroom and kbb gave me an absolute putridly low $$ value but I still see these being listed for somewhat premium amounts on cars.com when I search countrywide. So I’m not really sure what the price range would be and I’d prefer to sell (private party) to a GX enthusiast who will continue taking care of it and not sell to some random dealer.

I would say yes, they are still up there, perhaps for good. The GX is such a great platform it will keep gaining. Those valuation sites are for everything but Lexus/Toyota Cruiser platforms. You can always come down in price but going up is tough.

Good luck!

You'll do far better selling locally or here on the forum rather than to Vroom or a dealer... they're not as in touch with "actual" values for niche/cult vehicles.. of which I consider the 470 to be. There's a few GX on my local craigslist for example that are about 20-30k with typical wear and miles, the most expensive ones having some nice mods. I'm sure you'd see less than half from a dealer.

Don't bother selling to dealers.

How many miles are on it? Condition and tasteful mods will increase value, cheap stupid mods won't. Sold my '06 for nearly $25k but it was clean clean clean with records, nicely modded and relatively low miles. Had a lot of hits on it too.

If I sell the 03 I think $12k would be tough. It's fairly clean, high miles (270k) and lightly modded. Mileage is biggest factor honestly.

How many miles are on it? That is the biggest factory. Condition and tasteful mods will increase value, cheap stupid mods won't. Sold my '06 for nearly $25k but it was clean clean clean with records, nicely modded and relatively low miles. Had a lot of hits on it too.

I know all about dealers, I used to sell vehicles in a previous lifetime. Lol I was mainly seeing what the bottom $$ was to use as a data point.

It’s 2008 white (no paint problems!!) fully loaded w/183k miles, however condition and history are phenomenal even with those miles. Only real mods are wheels/tires, heavy duty full brake kit front and back, 10.3” “tesla” radio, dealer installed headrest DVD players I have yet to replace with factory headrests and the front grille. Only wear items are the usual front seat leather and some light wear in the back hauling cargo. I did sell off the 3rd row seats so those are missing. It’s been a CA and TX vehicle so no rust.

I’ve seen 180k+ mileage ones going for more than $17k with some even as high as $20k.

Everyone looking to sell high seems to always pick 20k as the starting number wether it’s a clean low miles example or a ragged out pos. Just based on my observations on Facebook and other marketplaces.

I’d probably start around 18 in my market but I’m east coast and I have an 05 with 110k on it.

Your real buyer market for the higher prices are going to be the people itching to get into a Toyota given all the overland/outdoor hype and growth of the last couple years.

Ah yea, I forgot about that site!

I was thinking of around $18k, so spot on.

I would put it on CarGurus/Autotrader where you'll get a nationwide audience. Or even try an enthusiast website - looks like a few are selling on Cars and Bids. Lots of folks are looking for these so you'll likely get a few willing to fly down to TX to look at it.

There have been almost zero nice ones for sale locally here since I bought mine, and the prices have been bonkers for the few that have been nice. On a side note, if I was in the market for a 4x4 today I would probably pass on the GX due to the crazy prices for an older rig - they were a bargain at $10K like I bought mine for in 2020, but when they are up around $20K plus for a 15 y/o rig they are just too close in cost to a newer 4Runner or a GX460 and the value just isn't there anymore. But people are still buying them!

You can always start high and let the buyer haggle you down a few $K, or lower the price if you don't get a lot of hits.

I just sold one of ours which was a 2008 with 150k miles on it. Non-nav version and stock (our other one is modded). It has had some electrical gremlins since we got it at 100k but we dealt with them. Had just done brakes and replaced air suspension with 4Runner SR5 stock takeoffs. Sold to the first buyer for $14k on FB Marketplace. I should have asked more....my messages blew up after agreeing to sell to the first person.

cudos to you for keeping your word. a lot of people don't do that these days.

Over the past weekend, I bought a 2003 for $7500. It has 232,000 miles on it, garage kept, two owners that serviced it at the same Lexus dealer. I couldn’t pass up the deal.
