Al it took me 5 mins to fiqure out the doc brown qoute. Im a tard

I will talk to shop and see If can get an exact answer on what they thought was wrong.

I think gary just needs to call the base and say he has an abanoned vehicle come get it. The kid doesn't seem to have a good head on em.

Will keep u posted.

hell, he still calls his female dog "boy" out of habit and she's 6 years old.

Gary and his crew there are a friggin' hoot, I love going in there and shooting the s*** with them as I always I use his shop for tires and inspections and such.

I still think this kid needs to get the FSMs, drag that bitch to the base hobby shop, find a donor motor and get his hands dirty. He'll learn about the mighty 2F and get his truck back on the road.

Just talked to kid through text (he wont talk on the phone) I asked him what his plans were and if he talked to Gary. He said I qoute "I don't have time to deal with it"

Sounds like you care more than he does about the situation. Understand if he is being deployed or some other military related extenuating circumstances, but if he is in town, why would he not want to handle his business? I wonder, is he making payments on this thing while it sits there (or maybe it's already paid for). Hell, someone offer him a grand and see if he wants to unload it and we'll fix it, sell it and put the profit in the ONSC coffers.

I agree Ramon, yet, its not an uncommon event where a young enlistee gets themselves into a bad situation and it gets blown off due to being deployed or just not giving a crap.

Like Darin mentioned above, if he defaults on the loan (one of the first posts states he owes $5k still), the
"dealership" goes to the base commander, where they will simply garnish his wages and he may get a meeting with his commander, getting punished, sometimes, taking a "stripe" if he is a chronic problem...

He doesn't care. He still owes $5700. It is finaced with navy federal. So they would go after him for the money not the base. Usually setup on allotment so they would just keep taking the money.

The latest is he trying to find a place to keep it. I told him I would move it for him.

If not I might just throw my morals away and buy it from the shop.

The shop couldn't sell it unless the title is clear. They could attach a lien to it for work performed/storage fees but Navy Federal would have the title. At least thats my best Judge Judy analysis of the law...

Yes, a mechanic's lien could be placed on the title but they will get in line behind the note to the bank/credit union. It mearly means he would have to pay the mechanic whatever lien is imposed before he could sell it with a "clear title".

Adam, you did the right thing to reach out to the "kid", offered him help, offered him assistance to help fix it, offered to drive it to Darin's, altruism at its best. Yet, if he blows you off, so be it. Don't take it personal, some people just don't want help, won't take help, even when faced with dire consequences.

Hopefully, he'll see what was offered and take you up on it. Looks like for now, he is determined to handle it himself...

But he wants a beer?

for me it was more of hey maybe I can help gary get the cruiser off his property and pick up another cruiser cheap. Oh well its the kids problem. Im done. Thanks everyone.
