Well .. as usual .. upgrades come year by year in my life .. so here are the 2010 for Marilu .. actually they start like one little thing here and other there coz this year it's the house year .. so I wish my wife never read this thread .. :D

This it's the 2009 thread .. that was nice less for this year, les fab, less fun ..

https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/284595-marilu-upgrades-ver-2009-a.html

Everything start with something cool for my engine .. since I can't afford my desired top mounted intercooler ( yet ! ) and after some readings here and there I take the chance and add ..

main.php

there are a few vid of Marilu in youtube where you can see how fas she can make EGT fly .. tha main idea was to control my EGT's at WOT ..

main.php

It take a few try and error to figure the proper amunt of water/ meth to inject that can do a real benefit in my engine .. and actual fuel setup ..

Here is the pump adjusted to 220 PSI

main.php

I start with 4GPH post turbo but now I'm in the 7 GPH mark .. I'm also injecting about 1GPH pre turbo to cool my inlet and allow it to a faster spool ..

main.php

I need to add that after the setup I I can see my EGT flying away at WOT over 1400°F .. now this setup can hold 'em ( barely ) at 1250 - 1300 it deppends on the external temp and humidity .. but are more less controlled .. I'm still injecting a bunch of diesel and maybe next year will be capable to buy or build a nice tip mounted intercooler ..

As another part of the uprades this year was to re check my suspension ... I was running J on front and back with a coil spacer on front .. but I thought those J are just to soft for any setup that include a front winch .. much more if it come along with any non stock bumper that add some weight ..

here is my rear panhard ..

main.php

after many many thoughts I decide to let it be as is .. right now it does not worth the value of a adjustable panhard or drop bracket .. to correct my rear axle . .

main.php

so I moved to the front ..

top with some dirt are the OME comp 420 rated at 5" lift ..

main.php

Since I'm bit obsesed with the level thing in my Cruisers I decided that route at first .. but lately discover was way to much even to me .. :D

how she was looking with 420 on front ..

main.php

bunch of space ..

main.php

BTW I'm running slee caster plates and my caster was around 1° both sides .. with OME420 .. still drive good but wasen't my idea to ran low on caster ..

main.php

so I swap again for 419 OME Comp coils that are rated 4" the lower one in this pic ..

main.php

Note: with 420 they only left about 1" or as much 2" of drop travel with L shocks .. so I move to my next cheap option ..

main.php

this pic it's with final setup OME 419 and now I have a reasonable good drop travel in my shocks again .. I don't even measure my caster with 419 but bet are 2.5° plus ..

Having the Comp coils in the front drive to another issue that I want to correct and here is my way ..

main.php

as a part of the lift there is another issue to take care .. and are the brake lines .. I do front and rear along with exteded diff breathers ..

main.php

here is another small thing that help a bit in my engine temps ..

main.php

and replace my factory 15 years old clamps in my turbo setup with new ones ..

main.php

Let's move to the engine .. since I'm shocked with 80 amps alt in my 80 .. and after made my mind with all the Mr. Bill ( Photoman ) Tundra alt info .. I got 2 good ones in ebay .. one 150 amp and one 130 .. I take the 130 amps to me .. since I thought I need less amps in my diesel .. ( I didn't have the chance to install the 150 amps in wife car .. but I will after all that's pretty straight forward ).

Thanks to my really good friend Joeri ( Joekatana here in the forum ) that was swaping a 1HD-T engine in his 40 .. I had the chance to work in the way that the Tundra alt can work in my engine ..

main.php

I end running 2" longer belt and it's working flawlessy since around 2 or 3 months ago ..

main.php

just a note .. for those with this mod in project .. the 80 series stock alt shaft it's smaller compared to the tundra .. so in order to run the 80 series stock pulley ( 1HD-T engine ) you must machine it ..

main.php

no big deal .. but to keep in mind ..

main.php

another big PITA of this process it's the connector .. and Thanks again Mr. Bill .. I use everything that I have in my hands to remove the wires from the stock connector .. sadly I end destroy it to pull the wires and clips ..

main.php

they go flawless in the new coneector provided by Mr. Bill and here is up and running ..

main.php

forgot to mention that if you are running around 8GPH waster/meth injection on demand you will run out of it very fast ! :D

Another thing to do it's upgrade my reservoir .. but I thought I will do that late in the year .. in the meanwhile I wire a light to know when the pump it's running and then adjust accoding to my boost gauge to 6PSI aprox ..

main.php

also run a light with a low level switch in my water /meth tank .. prevent to run the pump without fluid .. and if it happens you must bleed the system prior to use it again ..

main.php

In the above pic you will also see another def factory switch that I use to engage or disengage the system I add bulbs to all switches .. I need take a night pic ..

also had the water temp dash mod ..

Another modd it's this one .. I was sick of see it laying and rolling in my cargo area ..

main.php

Another cool mod ( cool to me ) it's this one and I'm soo happy with this one .. and it work perfect with my 3GS iphone ..

main.php

here is how my interior looks with black steering cover from wheelskin ..

main.php

Cool bass adition .. kenwood bass tube ..

main.php

main.php

here is how she looks now ..

main.php

upps .. there is an ARB bumper too .. :hillbilly: waiting for clear lenses for the ARB bumper coz I had those lights working with my marker lights ..

and my factory winch in the ARB bumper .. that take a bit of fab to make it work there .. and one day in bed with almost broken back ..

main.php

soon it will see a second batt tray and had a fuse box to work on ..

thanks to Bob, Bill, Joeri, Nate, the Cave crew and my friend Julio ..

I'm guessing that's not right..... (oil pressure)

Nice upgrades. Got lots of goodies this year.

Actually the factory oil press sender it's disconected .. here is my real oil press ..

main.php

Very Nice!

I've been wondering if adding header wrap to the down pipe from the turbo would help keep EGTs down at all. Was there a noticable difference after wrapping the pipe?

Beautiful Truck!!!

not at all .. what I was looking for it's lower the engine room temp .. but honestly I haven't take the time to measure 'em ..

One possible solution for the alternator pulley problem would be to source the pulley from a 1FZ-FE truck, as it is a dual groove pulley and bolts on to the 130/150A alternators with no machining. IIRC the price for a brand new pulley is around $40 from Cdan.

Nice list of upgrades Tapage!

that's quite right 96r50 .. I didn't that route coz I was in the middle of the swap conversion with no time to wait .. but with time it's a better solution

Nice truck, the water/methanol is a bit to deep for me as I do not drive that fast or hard anyway.

Do you have a number for that 1FZ-FE pulley for some reason I cannot find it on EPC?

Dave

27411-66040 is the number I pulled off ToyoDIY. It should be in with the alternator.

Hmmm, I found that on the EPC and it comes back as a pulley suitable for a ribbed belt?

However, the number 27411 is shown on both pulleys but I think the final number (not shown on EPC) is the decider whether it is a double V pulley or a ribbed pulley, I just need to find out the correct second half of the part number :bang:, I'll get there slow but sure.

Dave

If you're getting the ribbed belt idea from the EPC diagram, I wouldn't worry about it. Toyota seems to swap in some diagrams from other years/models so they are close but not always perfect.

There is only one pulley listed for the 1FZ-FE alternator when you look it up as a North American model. That's the part number I listed above.

looking good man!!

nice bull bar!!
