This run will be either a long day trip for some or an overnight camping trip for others. We plan to run Last Chance Canyon trail in Red Rock Canyon State Park and then explore other areas of the park such as Burro Schmidt Tunnel or the old Dutch Cleanser mine. The plan is to meet at the intersection of Redrock Randsburg Road and Last Chance Canyon Road at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday March 20, air down, and hit the trail. We will make up the rest of the day's itinerary as we move along. Several club members plan to camp Saturday night before either heading home Sunday morning or continuing on with exploring. Please post here to let us know if you plan on attending.

I'm in! I may camp Friday night, rather than leaving early Saturday morning, but I haven't decided for sure yet. If I camp Friday night, I'll try to link up with Brent, Jason, and any other Friday nighters. I'm definitely camping Saturday (and maybe even Sunday) night. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

I will be there for saturday!

Quick question: is everyone in this group usually on cb or is ham/2-way the most popular? I have both but my cb stuff is currently not on the truck.

Only a couple of us with ham and nobody but me with CB as far as I know. We've been using rugged radio frequencies that unlocked cheapo chinese ham HT's can get. I run a Yaesu ft-8800 in the truck that won't pick up those channels without a tweak at HRO. Baofeng and Woxun chinese HT's will pick up the rugged radio frequencies. Slightly better range than a CB but nowhere near the range of ham.

I will be there for the Saturday drive and if not blowing hard I will be camping camping Saturday night.

This is Dave MacCulloch with the GX 460 with the recently installed rock-sliders.

I'm going to have to pass on this trip. Just found a leak on the rear of my transfer case. Anyone have any suggestions for a repair shop?

I've heard nothing but good things about RPM in Monrovia.

I’m leaving Friday midday, but can’t confirm exact time just yet. I will find a spot to wild camp, rather than Dove Springs. This area, off Hwy 14 ios good for our group (up to 6 trucks, at least): 35.52034, -118.04694. It’s outside of the State Park boundary on BLM land, so should be okay to wild camp.

So far, it looks like we have the following planning to attend this run:
  1. Brent - Possibly going up Friday & joining Jason
  2. Jason - Going up Friday & camping at Dove Springs OHV
  3. Tanner H. - Saturday
  4. Bdobyns - Saturday
  5. Joe - Maybe Friday wild camp, Saturday run & camping for sure
  6. Jared - Saturday
  7. Dave - Saturday, maybe camping Saturday night
  8. Jonesingoffroad - heading up Friday, maybe camping Saturday, too
  9. ChuckNorris57 - heading up Friday
  10. Chris V. - Saturday,
  11. GX 470 (Tanner’s friend) - Saturday
  12. Travis V. - Saturday run & camping Saturday night
For those with ham radios, how about 146.520? If anyone wants to contact me by cell (talk or text), please let me know if you need my number.

See you soon!
