I'm trying to make the barn Friday evening, but I'll be manning the pig. Johnny remember you'll have the cooker and not the trailer, unless you need me to come by and get it.

I'll be happy to help. We'll probably be down there on Saturday morning. Let me know what I can do or bring.

What time are y'all starting at? I would like to help out. I was hoping to drive down Friday, but that's not happening so I will be heading down in the morning.

You can count on me being there this weekend.

The only reason I'm not bringing the 40 is so Johnny does not drive it into he creek or in the woods again haha

Meatball

Seriously? I've turned a new leaf bro, that will happen no more.

Southern 4WD is wanting to sponsor something in URE right now and it looks like it will be us and our trail. They are trying to better their image if anyone has been following the threads in NC4x4 and on FB. They dug the hole themselves and with new leadership they are trying to claw their way back out. For us that is a good thing. They are wanting to cover the price of the culvert we need and we would have to install it. I think that is pretty darn good of them. I have been talking with them and the USFS to try to get the ball rolling sooner than later, but right now the hold up is the engineer with the USFS going out there. Still in a holding pattern for that. Squat and hold !!!!!. All jumpers / former jumpers will get that. Speaking of that, the better half has blessed off on me going back to jumping again. Now to find the time / money.

Jumping, as in skydiving? I have been looking for an excuse to go again.

How long do you think this engineer is going to take to give us approval?

I am glad to hear that about SFWDA ... On all counts. The organization has, as you say Darin, done it to themselves which has been painful to me and a few others who worked our tails off building the org up in the late 90s, then got to places in our paying careers where we had to pass the torch to the next group and see it all fall to s--t. I hope that the new leadership can rebuild it and more importantly, get the organization back to an effective force in keeping trails open.

<rant mode off>

Back to the workday ... I cannot make this one but will do my damnedest to make the April one.

Sam. I was a member back then and had been a member up till a few years ago, but did not like the way things were going. Not having anything going on in NC was a big thing for me. IE: meetings and the likes.

Here is the news from Terry y'all.

Hi Everyone – I’ve been talking with Snappy & Darin to finalize the details for this weekend’s projects. We’ll meet at the usual time of 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp. This weekend Rodney Smith will be working with you. There are 4 general projects and Snappy has been talking to some of the different clubs to see what they’ve got lined up too.

1. Daniel Trail - CTB and others will be working with equipment to fix up the lower ledge and upper ledge on the trail.

2. Dutch John Trail - the Carolina Broncos and others will tighten up their corduroy crossings and rock armoring of the stream crossings.

3. Wolf Den Trail – ONSC and others will work on draining the mud hole at the beginning of the trail near the trailhead, build up a water bar to catch some of the water draining off the forest road at the gate, and working on fixing the first stream crossing some more.

4. Transporting hay bales out onto all of the trails concentrating on putting the hay bales next to the tail ditches and not staking them into the tail ditches. The contract has not started to do the trail maintenance yet so the goal of this weekend is to get the hay bales stationed along the trails next to (5 to 6 ft to the side of the actual tail ditch). The tail ditches to focus on are the ones that are within 30 ft of any of the streams out there (ephemeral, intermittent or perennial) to minimize the amount of sediment getting to the streams. In April we’ll stake them into place when the trail maintenance is completed. Rodney will stage piles of hay bales at each trailhead and he’ll have the gates open so that you can have different groups go in from the different ends of the trails.

5. Trash clean up at the dispersed camp sites and along the trails. I’d like a couple of folks to take the time to pick up as much trash and clean up as many of the dispersed campsites as possible. The trash bags can be put into the dumpsters at Group Camp on the way out. I know it’s a little out of the way but it would be great if we could clean up the woods and trails as much as possible before the trails open up.

Snappy says that BBQ lunch will be starting at 2:30-3pm at the Dutch John / Double Parking lot for everyone. Thanks a lot everyone. We appreciate your help. Bye - Terry

I am bringing the big camera and will try to get photos of the work and cruisers. I think it would be an awesome addition to Toyota Trails.

Are there any tools that we should bring?
