I don't like that list at all. All the trails they are giving us are already not worth the trails they are taking away. Why kill the Shubarth area, that really upsets me. Isn't 348.d reynolds wrap?

Here is what I have typed so far as feed back for the South Rampart Travel Management Plan. This is work in progress so please give inputs.

Here are inputs from the Colorado Land Cruisers’ 4X4 club.

These trails would be closed under Alternative B. These trails have value to the public because they are dead end roads and provide quiet places for families to picnic and relax that is off the main loops. Without these areas families would have to picnic and relax in the higher traffic areas which would be less than ideal for small kids and pets. We believe these trails should remain open to all vehicles.

300.F closed to all but administrative use
300.G closed to all but administrative use
300.Q closed
302.A closed
307.A dead end closed.
311.A dead end closed
314.B dead end closed.
324.B Closed (fun rock and steep climb back out)
327 closed half way down
347.E closed to all but administrative use
348.F closed
349 section of it closed

These trails would be converted to ATV trails under Alternative B. These trails lead to scenic locations we like to use with our full size vehicles to access for taking breaks while on using the forest. We feel these trails should remain open to all vehicles.

348.D convert to ATV
348.E convert to ATV

These trails should remain open year round.

345 open from 10/1 to 12/1.
346 Hotel Gultch (good winter snow run, but it will only be open from 10/1 to 12/1)

Alternative B does have some good elements worth supporting:
Re-Open 322a
344 Full size challenge trail w/ an open riding area
300.d connected through to 300.e
350.B open riding area (but might be more of an ATV area)

I think you make a good point about the usefullness of the dead end roads. Especially, since the many short dead end spurs for camps sites, picnics, wood gathering, etc have become off limits for vehicles unless it made to the official map. Were you planning to put together a letter from the club as a whole?

Individuals should also send seperate emails, since the more they hear this message about keeping roads open to full size vehicles the better. The web site for getting more details on the proposals or obtaining a comment form is South Rampart Travel Management Plan - Home and they also have an email address for comments at comment@southrampart.net

This coming Monday April 12th is the deadline for public comment on the South Rampart Travel Management Plan. The more people we can get to send in comments in favor of keeping roads open the better.

The Site for information on their plans is WWW.SOUTHRAMPART.NET. We can send comments to comment@southrampart.net. Alternative B is better than C for keeping roads open. They want to know which plan alternative you prefer and changes that you would make to the plan. Specifically which roads you want to remain open.
