All are invited. Tire chains recommended., but perhaps not needed. We didn't need them last year. Please reply if you will be joining us so that we can watch for you at the meet up.

Meet at the Philips 66 Alta station at 20421 US-24, Woodland Park, CO 80863 at 8:00 am.
We meet each other and get a coffee recharge, snacks or breakfast, last chance at a warm bathroom. Leave at 8:15 am.

We will go in from the West Creek end and meet up with Krispykritter who will be camping along the way. Krispy is bringing his firepit and suggested we bring hot dogs to cook over the fire. We will spend several hours at the trail terminus and enjoy hot food and coffee. It's your choice as to how long you wish to stay. Hope you can join us.

Jan 8th?

I will be there. 🙂
I will be bringing my little Coleman grill, which has a side burner on it if anyone wants to bring a pot and chili.

The fire pit is a solo stove, so it's great for warmth but not great for reheating food. Hot dogs are easy - I've got three sticks that we can pass around. I'll also be bringing my electric percolator and a bunch of coffee so we can make a few pots.

I'll also also bring along a large thermos with hot water in it for cocoa or tea or whatever people want to make that needs hot water.

I assume if you guys are leaving the Alta around 815 then you'll probably be at my campsite somewhere around 915?

Probably so. Sounds about right.

Another great day with CLC! The cool kids started off at Rudy's, delighting in authentic, Texas-style breakfast tacos with all the finest ingredients. From there we met the rest of the crew at the Alta, then on to the trailhead, where we picked up krispykritter, making a total of seven rigs. It did snow last night, so we got the added excitement of low traction in most places. When we got to the bottom, we had chili and hot dogs around the Solo Stove, and spent a few hours relaxing and sharing stories.

The highlight of the day was TK470 navigating a downhill boulder and practically standing it up on its nose. His left rear must have been four feet off the ground! We thus named the feature "Tim's Pivot". It's so unfortunate that nobody got video.
