Hey all,

Thought I would ask this here because you all seem like knowlegeable folks.

I am putting 1995 FZJ80 axles under a Suzuki Sidekick. These axles have auto flanges front and rear, and I'm wondering what it takes to put manual hubs on them all the way around. (front AND rear) I've seen that it's possible to put the '85 and earlier SAS minitruck Aisin hubs on here, but how well does that work? Does it work the same for the rear? Any other modification have to be done?

Thanks for your help!

Heather

Aisin hubs will bolt right up on the front - do a search in this forum for a write-up another member did a while back (will have details on year an whatnot). Not sure on the rears -

Bet those axles are wide under that little zuke -

for the rear you will need custoem splined-on-both ends axle shafts, in the front later birfs (I think 95 has the later birf) the stub shaft is a little to long to fit perfectly with hubs and the axle shaft moves inboard slightly from where it is suppose to be, as far as I know so far nobody has had any problems from this

a search here will bring lots of info on both

I have Aisin hubs on my '97 and the axle technically should be pulled out more than the hub does. I think Robbie measured it at 0.3", which is quite a bit. I put mine on about 65K miles ago, have had no problems and haven't put in the spacer to pull the axle out where it should be. I did verify there was that much play in there though, so I am going to put something. The spacer I'm referring to will go inbetween the Aisin hub and the end-of-axle snapring, so it pulls the axle outward more.

I know Christo has rear hubs on his buggy'd 80-series Cruiser, but as Raven mentioned, I think you need custom axles, Christo has custom ones in his.

I thought somebody tried a spacer and found that there was not enough clearance in the aisin hub to pull the ahaft all the way out? I'll try to find that thread later, this is something i have been interested in as hubs are cheaper and more functional than replacing my missing hub cover

could you get longer studs and shim the whole hub out .3"?
