I'm about to order a man-a-fre u-bolt flip kit, anyone has some bad experience with those? Did any broke something, like the rear suspension pin.

I'll be installing them with a new set of OME spring

I wouldn't want my ubolts hanging down below the axle, they would drag on everything.:flipoff2:

They are well built though:D

On the rear axle - it looks like one could mount a shock pin in the hole on spring perch and relocate the shock up out of the way. I got F&R kits. Next time I might buy two sets of fronts.

FWIW they are rugged, if not expensive. Nothing from MAF is cheap, but these are not the worst bucks you could spend there. I also have the flip kit on the back of my leaf-swapped 4Runner (basically put a FJ62 rear end on my 96 4R) and it has worked well for me there, too.

Putting them on my 71 '40 all around.

You certianly could...that is the stock mounting location on earlier trucks....

They offer the earlier rear set....If you purchase fronts, there will only be one top piece in the kit that will work, the other will need to be modified as it is two different lengths to compensate for the diff housing section of the front axle...

Yes, good point.

I looked back through photos from past swap meets. Found one where the pin was relocated...

very stout

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread...

Can the lower plates with the shock mounts be reversed to mount the shocks on the front of the rear axle?

This may solve a problem I created...

I had a marks off road aux tank installed with a (newer) Downey skid plate. The tank and skid plate bent my rear shocks.

Moving the shocks to the front of the axle would move them well away from the tank.

I'd like the keep the tank--- it's nice not having it under the passenger seat.

Any thoughts?

Dave, I was going to email you if there was no response to this thread. I don't have your flip kit - yet. It seemed like a reasonable solution to my problem...

I'll take some more pics and email them you.

BTW, you sold me a tire carrier/cooler rack - it's awesome. Thx,
Alan
