We are in Mammoth Lakes for the week and looking for recommendations for intermediate trails to run the 100 and 80 on. Did a few yesterday, but everything seemed to be about as tame as a fire road. We are running 2 trucks with 33's and stock suspension.
Thanks for any advice!

Go check out Laurel Lakes. Trail is just a couple miles out side of town. Trail is about 10 miles or so long. You definitely need 4wd but nothing that will tear up your rig. Not sure about the snow this time of year though. Only lake you can drive to that has Golden trout.

I went there a few years ago and would like to get back there. There were a couple of other trails but don't remember what they were called.

Unfortunately it's way too early to do any real trails anywhere around Mammoth, way to much snow for Laurel Lakes. To do any real wheeling you will need to go south at least to Bishop and east of 395.

Plenty of stuff in that area, not too challenging, but still some great views. Maybe look up Black Canyon just a mile or two south of Bishop and east of 395. Or some non challenging but really neat trails in/around Lone Pine, which is about 60 miles south of Bishop. A good area is called The Alabama Hills. Neat and a lot of western movie history.

Come back in May and June and go about anywhere you want...just bad timing right now.

Had a GREAT run up to Laurel Lakes- a bit of snow but nothing to deep to keep us from making the hill. Thanks so much for the input!

That's great. I never would have thought you could have gotten to the top this late in the season. Glad it worked out for you...that is a good trail.
