You would be surprised at how many other group share a common interest. Getting all of these groups together instead of working independently would certainly increase the economies of scale. For example, the following groups are actively involved with some type of land use issue:
ACGA - AZ Cattle Growers Association
ACA - AZ Cattlemens Association
AWPA - AZ Wool Producers Association
People for the West
AES - AZ Elk Society
ASA4WDC - AZ State Assoc of 4-Wheel Drive Clubs - Including many of the individual clubs
Blue Ribbon Coalition
There are many more than are on this list. Many of these groups are fighting for land use rights not so they can enjoy recreational activities, but rather to continue their way of life. Closing lands has impacted hundreds of livestock producers around our state and forced dozens out of business. The enviro-nazis have DEEP pockets thanks to all of the money collected on their behalf from seemingly innocuous groups such as PITA, AHUS, Ducks Unlimited, The Sierra Club, et al. These groups convince folks that they are either protecting wild life or our pets from inhumane treatment. The reality is much of their money is funneled to radical sub groups that do the dirty work for them, such as Earth First, ELF, ALF, and others.
One of the best ways I know of to support our cause is to speak up and be heard. Don't be passive and think that someone else will fight for you. Donate as much as you can afford to the PAC's (Political Action Campaign) of a group that has your interests in mind.
Of course educating people on how to drive off-road without destroying the land is another issue in itself. Often times we are guilty by association. Think about all the yahoo's that are out each weekend tearing up trails, driving drunk on the trails, and leaving their trash behind for others to clean up. Their actions are fodder for the enviro nazi's. Ultimately it's up to us to police ourselves before that right is taken away from us by way of land/trail closures.
